What kind of fish is this ?

My friend caught this one in a pond near the south delta .
Any idea what it could be ?

he said it wasn't a toothy critter but had more of a sucker type mouth.

Looks somewhat like a light hitch color lure but definetly not a hitch! Not another invasive species I hope, at least its not a snakehead.Looks more like some kind of sucker, squawfish species, or a Chub?
the best way to catch a big one is don't lose um sharp hooks set drag retie!

That my friend is a sucker, the meat is soft and sweet but full of bones really hard to eat. Jack

That is a Sacramento sucker. Spawning adults develop that dark stripe on the side, peak spawning for this species occurs in March and April. Very common species.

that is a half sturgeon/bass... :lol: that is a sucker, a good bait in the american river for striper..
