National Bass back to Castaic this Saturday 2/16/13

Post by Brian Linehan »

Hello guys-

The second stop for the National Bass West Southwest Region is this Saturday, February 16 at Castaic Lake. We are expecting a large turnout as the first event of the season drew 43 boats and with the combination of weather in the 70's and a good pre-spawn bite, I'm looking forward to the event. The lake opens at 6:45 so I'll be there around 5:15 at the West ramp for sign-ups.

If anyone has questions, please call me at (714) 580-4088.

I also wanted to add that it's my goal to ensure that the participants receive the best payback possible. Last year, I polled the group twice asking if I should pay deeper and spread the wealth instead of first taking the majority of the pot. I received an overwhelming response from the anglers and we listened.
If you look at our December tournament at Castaic, the top 5 teams all won over $1,000 each. In addition, sixth and seventh place paid over $850 each as well. When is the last time you've seen a 43 boat field paying over $1,000 for each of the top 5 spots? See below:

Name Name Fish Big Weight Winnings
1 Brian Kurata Bryan Sasahara 5 13.48 $2,200
2 Angel Perez Gil Valadez 5 13.44 $1,460
3 Billy Nelson Bobby Nelson 5 13.21 $1,260
4 Bill Siemantel Bernie Siemantel 5 12.75 $1,160
5 Ryan Wischnack Noah Cook 5 12.27 $1,060
6 Dan Villanueva Gary Jubilado 5 5.31 12.02 $860
7 Buzzy Wieman Pat Ammerman 5 5.78 12.01 $980
8 Aaron Fischinger Stephen Lamb 5 11.78 $300
9 Hugh Mitchell Doug Norvell 5 11.32 $100

The "Top 5" option we offer is the reason we are able to level the payback and distribute the winnings generously. The option is $60 per team and the total pot is divided by 5 and paid back accordingly.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask me at any time and see you at Castaic!

Brian, best of luck on your 1st class run event this weekend.

In this economy, if you want to keep guys coming you have to do as you did.
Great call on your part, again!
