Problem with Castaic Insight map after 2.1 update on Gen 2
I posted this on BBC as well, but since this a west focused forum, I wanted to see if you guys have run into this issue too.
I updated my HDS 10 Gen 2 /w Insight from version 1.1 to 2.1 and now Castaic Lake shows the exact same color as the terrain which makes it look like i am driving my boat on land. The only way to get it to show seperation of the lake is to switch my chart option to 2D.

For reference, here is Castaic showed on my Gen 1 unit on the bow which looks fine:
Here is Castaic shown on my Gen 2 unit after the 2.1 update:
Switched the chart option from image shaded relief to 2D, now I can see the lake, but no terrain shading:
Did a hard reset, just for the heck of it. Here is Castaic lake again on 2.1:
Dropped $160 on a Navionics chip, just so I could use my unit again:
Anyone else have this problem too? Zoom into Castaic lake on your Gen 2, what do you see?
There could be problems like this with other lakes too but I haven't check yet.

Don't update your software to 2.1 if you fish this lake, you'll be sorry you did.

Hello Wester Bass. This is Tito Perez west coast territory manager for Lowrance. Thank you for bringing this issue up to our attention. We will have a fix for it soon however, this issue only happens when Shaded Relief is selected on the Imagery option. A quick temporary fix is to change your imagery to 2D so that the water color shows on the vector map. Look at the picture attached. I hope this helps in the meantime.

Thanks for your reply. After posting this on another forum too, it ends up that it's effecting more than just Castaic lake. Others are having the problem as well.

Just checked both of my HDS Gen2 Touch-12's for Castaic Lake. I have software update 2.1 loaded on both, and both show the water properly in both shaded relief mode and in 2D mode.

Knowing some spots is only 1 part of the equation. Knowing how to fish them on the other hand is a whole different story.

I took my six month old HDS 12 gen2 touch into Basspro today to have them install the 2.1 application which they had graciously agreed to do. After trying to perform what should have been a 5 minute procedure two guys tried valiantly for half an hour to no avail. The unit froze up and would not perform any touch functions and could not be turned off with the power key. This is exactly the same problem I had with my previous HDS 10 unit six months ago. The HDS12 was an upgraded warranty exchange that cost me an additional $1500. I am shipping it to Lowrance in the morning. If you have a working unit I would live with it until Lowrance solves these obvious problems with 2.1 . T

Lowrance replaced my unit with a brand new one. The previous 6 month old HDS12 was working fine until the 2.1 upgrade was attempted. I do thank Lowrance for stepping up and giving me a new one.

My maps are still messed up after the update. Wish Lowrance would release an update to fix this or replace my unit.

I have no problem at all with both my HDS 12 Touch units so if anyone is having a problem I would suggest calling Lowrance customer care for a solution. They will not be able to fix a problem with your unit if they don't know you have one.
