Half the field drop 20 plus WON BASS Casitas 10/4

Post by Rich Tauber »

Five bass that weigh 20 pounds has always been a right of passage to gather a check at Lake Casitas. Well times of changed. With nine bags over 20 pounds it seems as though anglers have to now produce a 20 pound bag just to finish in the top 10. And that was the case as 21 teams took on Southern California's greatest bass fishery Lake Casitas in Ventura California. Barely nudging the field with the total weight of 24.46 pounds were the 2014 "Casitas Night Anglers of the Year" Richard Rawnsley and David Henderson. They calmly went about their business once again and won their second tournament in a row with a slow easy approach using a variety of plastic worm fishing techniques. They collected their 2014 Anger of Year trophies and their first place plaques and $2,350.00 in cash and prizes for the victory. Two burning bright young stars of the "Casitas Region" are Cody Cook and Parker Marquez as they put together a five fish bag for 23.41 pounds and settled for second place and collected $1,750.00 in cash for their nights work. David Mesa and his son Dave finished off a tremendous season at Lake Casitas and put together a 22.33 pound bag of bass and slid into third place and collected $700.00 in cash. Joey Boudin and Vince DiPalma dropped a 21.89 pound bag of bass on the scales to gather fourth place and $300.00 in cash. The next tournament on the WON BASS "Casitas Region" tournament trail will be our daytime season opener which is January 3, 2015. We have 40 boats already confirmed for the season opener so anglers interested in getting involved with our very first tournament of the 2015 season can call or text Rich Tauber at 818-439-1154 for more information. Not allways. I remember having a 34 lb limit with 4 fish and not even being top 5. The glory days. Looks like the lake is on its way to recovery though.
