Have my new Old Town Pedator XL coming in soon and am looking for extras for it. So far I have bought a Lowrance Gen3 HDS gps/sonar unit- which I chose mostly because I can use the built in Wifi to make maps of local uncharted lakes with the Navionics SonarCharts Live mapping.

Aside from this gps/sonar unit, are there any add on suggestions you have?

As you can tell, I am not exactly going low-tech just because it's a kayak. lol

Not sure if you're new to the sport or not, but besides a good depth finder here are a few things that can be upgraded/added to greatly improve your experience;

- A high-end paddle.
- A submersible marine radio
- Gel seat pad
- Last but not least, a comfortable PFD designed for kayak fishing

All of these are money well spent....they're not necessarily in the gadget department, but they will all make your day safer and more enjoyable. I tend to carry a shload of tackle and rods, so I don't add too many contraptions. The more stuff you add, the more complicated your deck becomes and the odds of you getting lines fouled and dropping things overboard increase.
