How to create a custom lead mold?

Post by Guest »

Anyone know how to create a custom lead mold? If so what steps are involved for creating something like a modified shakey head or jig head mold?

Thanks.

Check the Do-It mold site...I think I saw a provision for custom stuff.

Probably the easiest would be to modify an existing mold that is close to what you want your end product to be. Then use a Dremel rotary grinder or a "die grinder" with the appropriate burrs to change the mold to your specs.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Either that or using one of the molds with the weedguard drilled out, but not inserting the weed guard. Then clip off the excess to hold the worm near the head.

This guy simply worked around the issue all together by using a corkscrew, but I'd prefer a clip of lead to screw onto the jig head.

Call Phil's Prop's, they had a factory mold that was intended for making the mold of your own choice. I think it had an insert that you placed your design in and then heated up to impress the mold.

I believe it's from DO-IT but not positive.

Just stopped at Phil's, and they do have the mold :) . You need a prototype of what you want to make, then just follow the directions and presto, youv'e got your own design :)
Good luck

Check out the Hilts Perfect replica mold. I am certain that is the mold the others are talking about. I've used it, works great!
