I wanted to give a shot out and huge thanks to the crew at Anglers Marine for their tournament at Havasu. They run the best team tournament with 100% payback. My partner TLain did all of the prefish because I had to work. He got one day of practice during Friday and it was windy. He found a decent bite in the lake on reaction baits and dropshots.

Luck would have it that we drew out boat #1 and we headed out to our first couple of spots which yielded one small keeper and a heart break of a broken off fish that took me into a cage. It was at that point that we decided to hit a couple of my milk run spots in the river. I prefer flipping with heavy line in shallow cover, so to the river we went.

Our first stop yielded two keepers and the second yielded three. The flip bite was red hot and we decided to stay in the river. We hit some backwaters and put several fish in the boat on a chatterbait.

By the end of the day we boated 8-10 fish flipping deep tules in the river and another 7-10 on chatterbaits in the backwaters. The chatterbait fish came on shad pattern baits on 15 pound fluorocarbon. Our flipping baits included Missile Baits DBombs in Toxic Grape with a 3/4 oz weight. We used Daiwa Steez flipping sticks, High speed Zillion reels with 70 pound Daiwa Braided line. The fish were in the current and they were biting. we used our Navionics chart to locate those banks that had 6-10 feet of water with channel bends and trash pockets. We used the Navionics satellite overlay to find the backwaters.

We ended the day with 15.77 which was good enough for second in the Master's Division. we ended the year in 3rd place in AOY and made two second place finishes. Hats off to the winners and to Angler's Marine.
