Previous Roosevelt Lake date September 23, 2017. The new date for Roosevelt Lake will be February 24, 2018. All Pro/Am dates will remain the same. UPDATE AS OF 10.13.17
ARIZONA TEAMS UPDATE:
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the WWBT Arizona Teams event originally announced for Lake Havasu on November 4 has been cancelled.
Due to this change, the Arizona Teams circuit will include the remaining three regular season events as listed on the 2018 WWBT AZ Teams schedule and the Championship. Arizona Teams will be required to fish all three regular season events to qualify for the Championship. There will be no throwout.
This change will not alter any dates. rules or Championship qualification for the California Teams.
Official rules for the 2018 WWBT Pro/Ams and Teams will be posted in the very near future.

I posted this question on Facebook when the schedule was released:

I really wanted to fish all the events for WWBT (Pro/Am's and Team Events). What happens if I miss the Oroville Team event to fish the Havasu Pro/Am?

Would I still be able to fish the Championship for the Team circuit (only fishing 3 of 4 Team Events)?

Are the 2017 rules the same as 2018's -- if so, I can research and answer my own question.

Thanks in advance!

-David

Why would you schedule on top of your own tournaments. That has to cost you boats at one or the other.

Im sure it wasn't intentional, and if WWBT could have avoided the simultaneous dates, Im guessing they would have.

I simply want to know what Im looking at in terms of rules, for qualifying for each championship, respectively. WWBT is an amazing org (we desperately needed out West), and Im not looking to find 'fault' -- just need to make plans is all.

Very respectfully,

-David

Based on 2017 rules copied and pasted below, there are 2 alternatives:

1) have your team partner fish alone. So as long as you fished all 4 qualifying events, you would get an invite.

2) fish 3 events and finish in the top 50

56. CHAMPIONSHIP INVITATIONAL QUALIFICATION: The top 50 teams based on the Angler of the Year (AOY) points from each division and those who fish all 4 qualifying events will receive an invitation to the Championship Invitational. There are no throw outs for WWBT Team Events.

WWBT reserves the right to work down the AOY list to ensure a full field at the Championship Invitational.
Teams who fish 3 events and accrue enough AOY points to be in the top 50 may be invited.
WWBT also reserves the right to invite sponsor exemptions for the Championship Invitational provided that those contestants fished in all 4 events.
TEAMS MUST HAVE BOTH TEAM MEMBERS AT 3 OF THE 4 OF THE QUALIFYINGEVENTS to accrue AOY Points.

There should however be an * next to qualification rules. They changed it this year after all 4 events were completed, and many wasted all that $ prefishing to make the the top 50, so I'm sure they think they have the right to do so every year. #yourrulesmeannothing

Great Job WWBT, way to enable everyone to fish all of the events !!

Question Ken, any word on the possibilities of Capped fields for the events !!! Some of these locations might struggle with a 200 boat event!!

Great job on the Schedule this year WWBT Staff....Looking forward to it....

It has been discussed, but that decision would ultimately come from ownership. If it was capped, what should be the appropriate number? 150?

It would make sign ups, payouts, and other logistics much easier knowing you have the same 150 teams pre signed for every event.

WWBT CA teams averaged 165 across all 4 events and there was 92 teams that fished all 4. So getting to 150 of the same teams to fish in 2018 is very realistic. This would leave less space for cherry pickers.
Oroville-167
Shasta- 181
Clearlake-172
Delta-140

WWBT AZ teams averaged 73 across all 4 events and there was 29 teams that fished all 4. So getting to 150 of the same teams to fish in 2018 is not realistic.
Pleasant-69
Mohave- 67
Havasu- 92
Mead- 65

Capped events. Why ? F finally got the numbers and someone wants it smaller. Cherrypickers or not more is better

Pro/Am tournaments 200 boats and if you pay out 1 in 5 that's 40 anglers each division and if you don't go top heavy on the payouts on either side in your pay out 200 boats isn't out of the question. Even in the team tournaments.
