THANKS JIM FOR THE RESPONSE

WELL I'M RUNNING A 98 SKEETER18'6 AND WILL BE UPGRADING TO
A BIGGER BOAT AND THE LEGEND HAS CAUGHT MY EYE, I REALLY DO LIKE THE 20I SKEETER BUT I AM OPEN TO OTHER OPTIONS. HOW DO THEY PERFORM FAR AS SPEED AND ROUGH WATER (20FTR)? THEY SEEM TO BE A LITTLE LOWER IN PRICE WHY? WHAT KIND OF PROBLEMS HAVE THEY HAD? ETC.

Georgen,

This past Saturday (Won Team), I rode in and drove the Alfa 199 and I was quite surprised in how smooth it rode threw all of the wakes that the cruiser's and yahoo's thru up. I am also serious in buying one.

The floor plan is good and has plenty of storage. Fishing platform is great with no tip to the side motion.

This is the second Legend that I have driven and with this I have all my questions answered.

I've owned Rangers since 1976....

Hey George... I am not sure where you are from.. but, if you are in the Northern Cal area... I would be glad to give you a ride in mine. Rich Thiel rode with me this past saturday at the Won Team event on the Delta... and was very impressed. I think you will be too.

If you are anywhere near Clear lake I am sure I can get you a test drive with me in my Legend Alpha 199 and with Jeff Billings' Skeeter 20i. Jeff is my team fishing partner for AC and is also a sales rep for Skeeter as well as the Owner of Clear Lake Bait and Tackle.

If you are closer to the Delta I would be glad to meet you out there and let you take my boat on a test drive or even fish from it for a half day - with me of course. I am sure you will love the boat. There isn't one thing about the boat that I don't love.

Well the lady that won the WBT classic is running a Legend and well as others. Pam Wells is on her second Legend after coming out of a Triton and she just really likes everything about that boat. I know Dean The president of the comapany he is a great guy. My biggest thing about them is there rigger. Out of every boat manufacture in the USA the guy that rigs the Legends has to be the best and i mean the best. If anyone out there gets the chance to ride in one that has been rigged at the factory you need to open tha back hatch and you will see what i mean. He blows everyone else away.

So far you have recieved 3 great reports

And an offer to ride with Tom.
Tom is a great guy and a great spokesman for Legend.

In my opinion after driving a 21 foot Legend since Dec of 2005 is as follows.

!- When I am running at WOT in smooth water no one has passed me accept those two flatbottomed light weight boats that will beat you to death in a relatively light chop.

2- When I am in a hurry in a rough water situation no one else has ever been able to keep up with me and the person sitting in the passengers seat is just sitting there with his arms folded not having to hang on at all.

3- My boat corners like most roller coasters wish they could . It truly corners like it was on rails. If you like G forces instead of slide on the water the legend is the right boat for you.

4- There is a rear deck rod locker just to the left of the passengers seat the will easily hold 8 rods out of the way under the rear deck.

5- No improvements what so ever are needed in the locker layout. they are both large and very fubctional.

6- My only real criticism is that I wish the door on the glove compartment was a little larger.

7- Take a ride with Tom, if that doesnt convince you get on touch with me and I will try to schedule a ride for you in my boat. Inland marine is the local dealer and Frank is a great guy and he also will be able to tell you of the Legend advantages. Inland Marines info is at the bottom of my posts

Jim is right on.
However, my 199 has a few modifications.

1. The glove box is larger and sturdier than Jim's. So that is fixed.

2. They removed the rod locker to the rear of the passenger seat in the smaller 19'10" boats. The new Alpha 211 should have that feature though. It would be nice but, I like my large storage boxes in the rear as a replacement.

Other features of a Legend include.
3. Tube lighting in all of the storage compartments making it the best lighting system in storage compartments hands down. the lighting goes all the way around every compartment lighting the whole compartment from every angle... its really nice.

4. Fully finished battery and gas tank compartments - these things are gel coated just like the rest of the boat. this allow them to add more flotation to the rear of the boat than any manufacturer out there. I can literally run my boat all day without the plug and not have a problem. I have done it several times - both on purpose and on accident.

5. The finish on these boats is second to none. Legend prides themselves on putting out one of the best looking boats on the water.

6. Legend is a stand up company... the few problems they have had have been solved in the best way possible including lending a boat out while repairs are being made. The only problems I have heard of is 1 jackplate breaking and 1 motor actually cracking at the 90 degree bend. In both cases the actual hull of the boat was unharmed. The transom is a 6 elbow brace transom which is also the best in the business compared to other manufacturers 4 brace and some even only have 2 braces! You will never have a transom problem in a Legend boat , PERIOD!

I can go on and on and on... but, instead I just offer anyone who wants to ride in my boat a ride. My email is editor@basswest.com and I will be glad to take you out for a day of fishing or just a quick spin... I think, heck I know the boat will sell itself!

I just want to say that this is the first I have heard about a jack plate problem, but knowing Dean Smith the owner of legend boats I am sure that they have figured out the cause and have cured it. Im glad to hear about the glove compartment but i would rather have the back deck rod locker, I sincerely miss it when i fish the back seat in other boats.
Legend is the spoiler. once a Legend owner you will feel cheated if you ever buy another boat.
There are lots of good boats out there, but Legend shines out as the best in my opinion. Now that I am fishing the back seat again I get the opportunity to fish out of a lot of the other boats. To me thats the worst part of fishing as an am.

I will also be at cCearlake the 8th and 9th

With regard to price

Companies such as Ranger and others are running some very expensive promotions. The Ranger cup comes to mind and the bonus money that they pay to the owners of Rangers who win certain of their Ranger sponsored tournaments.
Those promotions need to be paid for by someone, that someone is always the consumer.
The truth is that it is working for them. people buy their boats because of the promotions and I suspect that they will continue to do so.
There were some new Rangers bought prior to the recent FLW tournaments. If you win one of the tournaments where you collect the $25,000 bonus then it was a good investment. if not then you have spent some extra money for your boat to help support those promotions.
Good business for Ranger?....Certainly and absolutely.... Good business for you?.....You have to make up your own mind about that.

Both the Jack Plate problem and Motor breaking problem were solved by the manufacturers of the respective products. Legend also handled the situations in a great way getting the owner lender boats and taking care of the repairs quickly and efficiently.

I might like to have that backseater's rod locker... but, I can't complain... my boat is awesome and I wouldn't trade it for any boat on the water!

Hey Georgen,

I also have a couple of Pro Staff guys in Nevada that fish the Delta every weekend, they could hook up with you anytime you would like on their way to the Delta.

Legend Boats are the fastest growing, hottest boats in the industry. They are as fast as they look and have a fantastic ride. As you can tell by the passion in both Tom and Jim they are great boats and great guys.

Legend just celebrated its fifth year anniversary and recently announced its Contingency Award Program for running a Legend.

You can download all the of the details at the following address.

http://www.legendbassboat.com/legendadv ... rogram.pdf

The following is a summary of the program.

Check out the wild ride one of my customers just took delivery of in Illinois.
We are talking one bad looking combination. Legend does the best color fades and combinations in the industry, bar none.

Give me a ring anytime and I will answer any questions you may have.
