Performance trolling motor prop?

Anyone use an aftermarket t.m. prop? I had mine off to clean grass off the shaft and decided to put a clean sharp edge on the prop with my dremel since it was pretty chewed up and got me thinking... The prop is failry heavy and bulky especially for an electric motor. Now granted it has to be strong enough so it doesnt break but it seems like they could reduce the rotating mass quite a bit by reducing the hub size and therefor the overall weight/mass that the motor has to roate. I looked online to see if there were any out there and the only one I found was a 3 blade. Anybody have any ideas/thoughts on a lightweight 2 blade or is the 3 blade the only way to upgrade?

I have a 24V Minnkota 65lb thrust. Not sure the exact model, but I was asking as a general question as Im sure if anyone makes these they would have one to fit all models.

Get you a KIPAWA....Been using them for the past 3 years...lots of torque...more speed with less power draw...weedless as any. No affiliations just a satisfied customer.

Ya I saw the Kipawa when I did some searching but that is the only one I could find. I am curious though as to if there is a 2 blade performance type prop. The Kipawa is a 3 blade and with that third blade has more rotating mass. I may give it a try but am really interested to find a 2 blade with a small center/hub. Something that has the same pitch and size blades as the stock blade but minus the mass of the stock prop by either making it from a light weight material and or reducing the center mass of the hub. Thanks all!

pretty hard to build a better mouse trap when the basics work. the Kippawa is a good prop maybe three blades are better than one, the weight factor is minimal, might be a thrust power issue or battery strenght... avoid aluminum props.

Not saying i'm having problems with the power of mine, just thinking outside the box. Theres nothing wrong with the basic car engine either, but people are constantly building or fabricating parts that reduce rotating mass to gain more power/performance, and have much success in doing that. If you take your t.m. prop off you will realize how heavy it is for such a small piece of plastic and yes a 3rd blade does add quite a bit to the rotating mass. Sure adding the 3rd blade increases performance but maybe not optimal compared to a 2 blade that is lighter. Again just trying to think outside the box. Who knows maybe everyone has been so concerned with their outboard performance that no one has thought about the t.m. and I could start the next big thing.

When the rotating mass conflicts with the diameter of the hub ,when reduced leads to more weed pick up thus reducing effiency and off sets the balance of the boat control on said aproach... I cant spell I just fish...... don't sweat the petty stuff. but invent a new prop I will check it out
