What do you guys like to tie your spinner baits to?

I am looking for a rod to throw 1/2 - 1 oz. blades on the delta.
Currently I been using my cranking rod as a double. I think that is a mistake since I miss alot of fish with blades.

thanks in advance

I actually like a little longer rod for blades. Too I like a fast over an extra fast. It has a little softer tip for hook up % yet way more back bone than
A cranking rod. I also like a carbin fiber rod over glass because you can feel the blades turning and detect a light bite or a bite as a blade is fluttering down. I would check out the Phenix Recon 764MH or even the 804! Here is a link.

If I'm throwing over or through large grass mats I like the Phenix UMBX700H. It's has enough backbone to rip it through the grass when it gets hung up. But if I'm targeting tules along the bank like in the Delta I use a little shorter model like the 6'6" UMBX-606H for more accuracy. It's easier hitting those sweet spots with a little shorter rod.

I use either a Phenix 764MH or a 804MH in the Recon series. I prefer a longer rod when throwing a spinnerbait or crankbait. Also, there are times were I like the X10 for throwing a spinnerbait. Good load up on any of the 3 rods.

Phenix has a great lineup in the Recon series. Won't break the bank but the rods are quality and balanced well.

Dobyns 734C - They are extremely sensitive, well built rods!

i Would also recommend a Phenix because they are a great quality rod and you can feel just about every thing with these rods. The rod i would suggest is the 700MH ultra mbx classic From Phenix because it has a perfect tip for blades and the backbone is perfect too. I like the 7 foot because with this sorter rod you can make more accurate cast witch is needed in the delta.

Yep the 700MH from Phenix will spoil you for sure. Surprising power for such a light weight rod.

I totally agree with what Vince said but I am going to take it a bit further. I personally like to use a "Glass" rod for throwing the blade.
The reason why I prefer the glass is because of the soft tip which makes it easy to feel all the structure you are banging your blade against and the improved cast ability that you get when using a glass rod. I also think you should go with a rod that is as long as you feel comfortable with. Personally I use the 7' variety.

Here is me fishing a blade on the exact rod that I am referring to..

Also here is the link to all the specs on that rod!

Hope that helps!

Got 2 new Phenix Recon Rod last night. The PHX-C744mh will be perfect for a spinnerbait rod. Took it out of the tube and was suprised that they come with rod cover. And whats really sweet they are printed with the rod number so when you grab them you know which one it is. They are light and are balanced perfect when I put my reel on them. I'm taking them to Clear Lake this weekend so will let you know how the feel with a Toad on the end of it. lol

If you're going to throw blades up to 1oz in the Delta, get a rod with some power. Too many weeds and tules to wrap you in, a 7'3" powerful rod is the deal. We sell a lot of the 735C rods for blades in the river. It's also a great frog rod. Most guys throw a 4 power rod but I'm a believer in a more power. I blade fish the Delta a lot and have forever. Get wrapped up a few times and you'll go up in power. I hate CB rods for blades, I lose too many fish.
