Curado I

I have about 5 of these models and they seem to be 50/50 on whether or not they want to work right. I read the old post about the screaming which I've had and usually can fix with some lube and tinkering but today one of the reels I was literally using and then set down and didn't touch the rest of the day, all of the sudden the spool doesn't engage? I checked the spool tension and the drag but I haven't REALLY played with it that much yet because I can't imagine what could have happened while it was laying on the boat deck? Anybody ever seen this?

It sounds like the thumb bar hasn't re engaged, but it's hard to say without opening up the reel and taking a look.
I'd try depressing the thumb bar and turning the handle. I have a reel from a different manuf. that has that problem occasionally, and I do that to get it to re engage.
It may just need some grease on the release mechanism's pathways.
If you're not comfortable opening up the reel, depending on how old it is, you can send it back to Shimano, if it's still under warranty, or find someone locally to service it, if it's not.

Figuratively speaking, I kicked it around a few times and played with the thumb bar, then tightened the drag all the way down and backed it off and it seems to be working fine again. I'm not sure what actually happened but it seems fine now, must have been a user error somewhere along the way. Ooops, my bad. Thanks

Good to hear you fixed it. Those are supposed to be bulletproof reels, unless, as you said, there is a user error.
Sounds like something I'd do.
