Terrova Foot Pedal

Arghh.. All I can say is Arggh. I've had my terrova w/ ipilot for awhile now but I cannot get used to the foot pedal. I made some modifications to the toe buttons so I can use it without pressing two buttons at the same time 
and it works GREAT for pitchin' banks or adjusting during the copilot "auto steer" function but... steering with my foot on the foot pad just aggravates me. There is no resistance, no tension and no variable speed when turning.. Does anyone have any insight into a possible remodel of this foot pedal? Spotlock would be an improvement on the pedal for sure, giving it some resistance or variable speed would also be an improvement.
