We are headed out to Sacramento in a couple of weeks. Our first event took place in Philladelphia. We had a great crowd in Philly and are really looking forward to visiting the west coast anglers. Check out the following links to read some of the reviews.

We are working hard at getting the word out. Can you guys recommend some good tackle stores, web sites or news papers that can help us spread the word?[/b]

Welcome to westernbass.com Pete, we are looking forward to seing you and Mike out here soon.

The Bass University had more than 100 attendees at Philly guys, and all reports said that everyone got more than their money's worth out of it.

Westernbass.com, Bass West USA and Bass Tackle Depot are local sponsors of the event, and are helping Mike and Pete make some local announcements, and they will be coming in here personally to communicate directly.

Starting with a contest for the next 50 anglers who register between December 15th and 31st will be entered into a drawing to be one of two people to have dinner with Mike, Pete, and some or all of The Bass University Instructors for the Sacramento event.

Those instructors are, Bassmaster Elite Series pro, Ish Monroe. Forrest Wood Cup Champions Brent Erhler and Michael Bennett as well as 2009 U.S. Open Champion Gary Dobyns. Dinner will be held Saturday night following day one of the January 9th and 10th event.

The Bass University and Bass Tackle Depot will have other contests coming soon, check back for more.

Get ready for a great time, and as Ike would say, "Never stop learning!"

We had over 100 students in Philly. I think we'll match that number in Sacramento. I'm sure the west coast guys are just as bass fishing crazy than the east coast guys.

You might not think so, but in and around New Jersey there is some outstanding bass fishing. The upper Chesapeake and Potomac River are outstanding not to mention all the great small mouth water a short drive north. I'm sad to say that the state record NJ bass is just under 11#. We don't have the luxury of fishing for 15-20# bass at home. We have to travel for that.

What would you say is the best lake close to Sacramento?

For big bass it would be Clear Lake, but even closer is Folsom and that can be very good at times.

Of course there is also the Delta, where you will be in a few months.

For pure catching enjoyment Oroville has a great bite in the winter months.

I want to spend some time on the Delta. I'm a tidal river nut. Husdon, Delaware, Potomac, St Johns, Chesapeake-I love all these places. How much does the tide fluctuate on the Delta? 2, 4, 6 feet?

Is Orville one of those deep clearwater lakes? How do you usually catch them this time of year?

January 9 and 10 is right. If nothing else the Bass University is a lot of fun. We have a lot of West Coast Guys at this one. Dobyns fresh off his US Open win. Can't wait to hear how that played out. I competed in a Bassmaster Top 100 on Lake Mead a while back. I finished 11th and missed making the top ten by 1 ounce. Nixon edged me out. I still haven't gotten over that one. I love fishing clear water and lakes that have smallmouth!

We also have Two Forest Wood Cup Champs - Brent Erhler and Michael Bennet. These two guys have brought thier west coast knowlege back east and won at the highest level. I met Brent at the FLW Stren Championship he won and Lake Cumberland, KY. Since that time he has ripped into the FLW Tour and is currently ranked 2nd in the world on bassfan.com.

Ish is one of the most entertaining guys on tour. He won back to back Bassmaster Ellite tournaments and is always a force to be reconned with. You don't want to miss his seminars.

And then theres Ike. Classic Champ, Angler of the Year, Federation Champ, FLW Tour winner. Mike is out of control on the tournament trail and lets it all hang out when he is speaking at BU. He opens up his tackle box and gives all the details.

Its really is a great time and full of the information that can really give you an edge on your next fishing trip. After I'm done with my seminars I always sit in on the other speakers to try and pick up some details.

Let me know if you guys have any questions about the Univesity program. We have group rates and are rolling out a contest soon for dinner with the pros. I'll keep posting new information and answering any questions as we get closer to the event. Look forward to meeting everybody.

Oroville is a deep clear lake, loaded with spotted bass and the less often seen largemouth and also some small mouth. You can catch them about any way ya want(jigs, tubes, darter head worms, rippin, crankin, senkos, on top water.) Ya just never know day to day. The Delta tides can vary from 2-6ft on a swing from high to low(depends on time of year and incoming water as well as moon phase).
