So what did you get for Christmas?

Post by Lugnut »

Usually there is a post after Christmas where everybody talks about the cool gear they received for Christmas. I looked but didn't see one so I thought I would start one.
I have been married for almost 10 years now. My wife and kids always give me a bad time because I never give them any ideas for my B-Day or Christmas. So this year they just happened to ask after I came home from a club tournament in which on of my TD spinning reels was acting up. So I told them, how about a Shimano Stradic 3000Fi. Hot dam on Christmas morning there it was..... :D The bad thing is my wife now knows how much a good spinning reel is, and I can see the calculator in her head turning as she goes by the rows of rods and reels in the garage....lol I hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a Happy New Year
Don't ask about my username, all I need to say is check yours and check them often.

Last years holiday's were tough after my dad dying (still missing him) but this one was better. This year I got another Skeet Reese rod, a BassPro gift card and a wii with the BassPro Shop "the Strike" game (AND NO I HAVEN'T CAUGHT A FISH YET   ).

So I hope all of the Nutcases got everything that was on their wish lists and wish everyone a happy and safe new year.

Sorry to hear that HawgCatcher, my dad's on his last leg, maybe his last Christmas it's looking like.

Anyways, brand spanking new Punker 6", this time a trout pattern, and a Shellcracker, red ear pattern. SWEET. (From 1/2 price, one day specials two weeks ago).

Birthday coming up, want a couple of Catch 22's now.

Next time before you b*tch about what you didn't get for Christmas, here's a brief story about a buddy of mine who lost his life Nov. 7th of this year.
Marine Sgt. Cartwright was killed, November 7, 2009 while supporting combat troops in Afghanistan.

Cartwright was assigned to the 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, Camp Pendleton, California.

He joined the Marine Corps September 10, 2001, and was trained in reconnaissance. He was promoted to sergeant in 2006. He was on his fourth tour of duty in the Middle East.

His military awards include two Purple Hearts, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, two Combat Action Ribbons, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, two Iraqi Campaign Medals, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, four Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, NATO Medal and two Certificates of Commendation.

He was the son of Michael and Carol Ann Cartwright of Union Bridge, Maryland, and the husband of Marissa Cartwright.
His wife and family "didn't get" their son/husband coming home safe for Christmas this year, and he didn't get his wish to once again come home safe to them, either.

Kinda puts it all into perspective, doesn't it?
