Yamaha 250 SHO problems

Post by Drifterz Elite Fishing »

Hey Everyone,
I have a 250 SHO pushing my fx20. It has been great so far but as of yesterday, im having trouble getting the boat on plane. When i punch the throttle is boggs down and wont really go over 10mph (enough to raise the front of the boat). If i hold the hot foot down it feels like it wants to bogg down more. In order to get on plane i have to let off the hot foot, and pump the pedal 2-3 times then push it all the way down, the motor boggs a little, then SLOWLY gets on plane. Once it gets on plane i can feel it "take off" and run hard.
any suggestions on what could cause this? i added 1oz of some fuel treatment (the dealer suggested using) for the first time, took it to my tournament and it ran like crap.
My thoughts tell me dirty injectors? or maybe dirty filters somewhere?

help!
thanks
Erik

Hey buddy! How's the Yamaha 250 SHO so far? We are just finishing the installation of the new mud tires and tonneau cover on the current truck project and will check the Yamaha 250 SHO which is having almost the same problem. Any info will be appreciated.

I had same problem it should be your fuel pumps on motor.
one is low pressure other is high pleasure..I would recommend
having both replaced.

I had the same exact issue with my Mercury 225 last month. Fuel regulator, warranty.

I had a similar problem . It turned out to be the spark plugs . Easy to check , just pull a few out and see what they look like , mine were corroded and built up. For some reason , Yamaha 4 strokes tend to build up a residue in the spark plug gaps . I replaced all of mine and problem solved .
