Report: Fished on friday,we did prety good, han around 15 fish to 3lbs. Most came off points and then only one or two per point. Fished the north end of the lake. Could not find any fish that have moved up on the flats. I think we still need some more warm days to bring them onto a good bite on the flats.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Weather was fair (perhaps in the 60's), high clouds all day with occasional wind gust ... getting stronger later in the PM. There were 31 people fished, 29 caught fish. There were 13 limits and it took ~11.5#'s to win. Seems like with the exception of a few, most struggled to get limits and near limits. To whit, the winner had exactly 6 bites and landed 5. But he had the right 5! He was fishing areas that were in 15' or less, but had deeper water right next to them. Caught them on spidergrubs and jigs. A few had crank fish early. These crank fish was caught cranking shallow divers VERY SLOWLY in the AM up in the back of Putah Creek. The best bite seems to be in the Narrows fishing the major points and cuts. One boat who had 2nd & 3rd places were catching fish with spider gubs and the other split shot a Chartruese weenie worm behind him. Another top 5 finisher caught his fish in the narrows fishing a cinamen pepper grub. There were a couple of other limits that came from Putah creek. Both these folks were in the same boat and one cranked up a limit of fish, their fish were smaller and there were smallmouth mixed in, while the folks fishing the narrows had mostly largemouth. Another fisherman reported fishing a jig all day and caught over 20 fish. He exclaimed that it didn't matter what jig, he used Blk/blk, brn/blk, 3/8oz, 1/2oz, etc. Fished mostly on the east side of the lake. Mostly "spawning areas".
    City: San Jose

Tips: Tips: look for the bigger fish to start moving up to spawn on the next moon phase. Soon as we get a couple of warm days, these fish will just go nuts! Otherwise, fish SLOW!!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I took Saturday to fish at Berryessa this past weekend with a couple of friends. The weather was partly overcast and cold. We managed to catch 7 fish between the three of us in half a day of effort. All fishing was done from the bank. We fished nightcrawlers of all things at a snail's pace, REAL SLOW. Bass were timid and would not strike hard. Average size was 14-15 inches weighing 1 to 1-1/2 lbs. These fish are all pre-spawn and the females were fat with eggs. We caught only one large mouth. The rest were spotted. Can wait for the water to warm a little more buit hopefully not till mid-April, my next big trip up.
    City: n/a

Tips: Tips: Fish slow and deliberate. Bass were not willing to chase any kind fast moving reaction baits.

Report: Fished ABA Pro Team yesterday and found very favorable conditions for a change. Stayed in the North end all day.It didn't matter where, as long as you fished a"point". We caught 25 fish up to 3 lbs., on jigs, carolina rigged hogs, and crank baits.(never went into the "narrows".) Color didn't seem to matter. The fish moved up to feed and get ready to do the "wild thang".
    City: San Leandro

Tips: Tips: The fish were pretty aggressive yesterday, but with this front that just moved in, we start all over again. Downsize and fish slower.

Report: My husband and I fished Sat. Feb. 27th out of Markley. Fished the narrows all day (9am-4:30pm). Caught a total of 5 largemouth, 3 spots, and 2 smallmouth splitshoting 4 inch magicworms. Both smallmouth and one spot were approx. 2 pounds a piece. Didn't think we had that great of a day until we talked to a guy after the ABA tournament that said his weight of 7 lb. got him 12 place out of 40+ boats. Tried crankbaits and spinnerbaits, but no luck.

Report: Fished ABA tourney Sat. out of Markley Cove (Mother Lode), 43 boats. Ran North and caught 6 keepers all day in the vineyards. (Largemouth) I wasn't very proud of our 8.35 lbs. until at the wiegh-in, the director told us to stick around. I guess everybody struggled. Lots of 5-6 lb. limits of smalleys and spots. Anyway we ended up 7th place and got a check. All of our fish were caught arolina rigging grush hogs. The Winners said they were cranking and ripping, but wouldn't share squat. We tried an array of things without success. Am I the only one submitting reports on Berryessa or what?

Tips: Tips: Fish haven't moved up yet. Still Staging, Fish slow.

Report: Fished Club tourney Sat.Stayed on main Lake near Berryesa Marina and East side. Not much of a jig bite, switched early to Carolina rigged baby brush hog. Ended day with only three keepers, but 15-17 inches. My backseater also had three, including a 17"smallie.He was splitshotting a 4" weenie. The fish were caught in 10-18'. A 9 lb.was caught by a club from Santa Rosa, they seemed to be tight-lipped about how he got it. I did hear that one of the fellows got a rip bite goin, and ended up with six keepers. Anybody else fish last weekend?
    City: San Leandro

Tips: Tips: Water still cold, fish are just starting to stage prior to moving up to the shallows. It won't be long now.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Little Brother and I launched out of Pleasure today with no morning bites. South end and main lake pretty clear but from Putah resort on up the river VERY muddy! One fellow stuck a couple on a red crank. We finally found some feeding fish near the end of the day in shallow water. It seems all I ever need to bring is one rod with a brushy tied on! Poked a nice 2 pound class smallie off of a boulder-to-rubble transition. A 2 lb. large mouth and a pound-and-a-halfer came off of submerged trees.
    City: Bay Point

Tips: Tips: Slow retrieve your cranks in bright craw colors. If you see any shad busting going on chances are you may find some aggresive fish. Find the warmest clear to stained water near flats and work the submerged trees or bushes with Texas rigged soft plastics. Irregular rock formations for smallies.

Report: Fished on monday, slow bite. Caught a couple at the rock wall on Putha creek. Heard that the fishing was a little better at the other end of the lake. Fish around markley cove, on the banks that are at a 45 degree slope.
    City: Dixon

Tips: Tips: Shake a 4" worm in morning dawn or a double red craw. I think a Jig would also work well. Fish in the 15 to 30 feet of water.

Report: I was up at Spanish Flat fishing from shore and caught #10 bass right by the boat launch! I was working the edges of the boat launch pad and had a blast! It was just before dusk and the bass were biting on a pegged bullet sinker 1/8 oz. 24" away from a #1 worm hook with a 4" black berkeley worm, it was lots of fun! The only person around was my 7 year old son and I would set the hook and let him reel them in! I love watching my son catch bass and he loves it too! I have a home page of my own if you want to chcek it out the address is http://members.castles.com/jdt1133 email from the page and I will try and get your tips on the page too!
