    Report: i love berryessa- it's beautiful and a great place to fish. Unfortunetly, i haven't been there since about August and my mom or my friend's mom just don't want to drive that far anymore and i can never talk them into it.i know im missing out on some quality bass and bluegill fishing at my favorite spots at oak shores and pope creek, but heres my point: considering water temperature, has anyone had good luck with bluegill recently??

    Report: On the water at 6am fished the Vinyards first thing very little wind caught first fish 3rd cast 2.5# followed lots of bait fish caught another 2.5# clone moved up to the creek nothing went back to the Narrows and hooked up with a nice 4.6 # large mouth finished up with a few more small dinks the water was quiet untill 11am and then its was busy my time to get off the water Good day

    Report: Easter weekend was just perfect at the lake. The weather was great, the water was clear and the fish were biting. Friday I headed out to the vineyards at 11:30 with my wife. We had a limit by 1:00. We were both using brass and glass with a 5' senko (I keep telling you it works!!!). After she brought in her second fish, I figured why should I be stubborn I switched to her color senko and sure enough I started to catch fish. The conditions were perfect and I followed my own advice. On Saturday I took Tom and Tony out for the day. We trolled from the ranch house to the vineyards with no success. We fished the vineyards for over two hours with no bites. No matter what bait we tried..........zilch!! What a difference a day makes. I decided to try my favorite cove. I had Tom and Tony start by bouncing a split-shot and minnow on the bottom. The first two fish that were caught were under size. You should have seen their faces when I let those two fish go. The bite picked up and we began to enjoy ourselves. They landed two good size crappies and a limit of bass (see photos). At about 1:30 I threw a brass and glass with my wife's favorite color senko into a recess in the rocks and was hit immediately by this five pound four ounce bass (see photo). After taking two pictures, I released the fish and I thought Tom and Tony were going to jump over board to grab it. They were happy with all the fish that they were going to take home. Sunday my wife and I went to my favorite cove for a couple of hours. We both used the brass and glass with the senko and landed a few nice fish no size to speak of. All in all it was a good fishing weekend and I hope it continues to get better and better.     Report: JT, I saw the same thing a week ago in the north end. Also couldnt get a bite. Pissed me off so bad I finally got out of the boat and went to some high ground to look at the fish and see what they were eating. They were all CARP! Waste of time, and probably broke a few blod vessels in the forehead. MAybe yours were bass or trout, but these were definitely not! Good fishin'....for bass.

    Report: It was just an amazingly beautiful day out on Berryessa. We launched from Markley Cove at 7:00 and were off of the water by about 3:30 PM. We landed 13 fish all of them between 1 LB and 2.5 LBS. No hawgs, but I think all of them were keepers. We probably could have caught more fish if we focused solely on dart-heads and drop-shots but we were out playing with our new Christmas toys. I think we were on the water for maybe 5 minutes when my buddy, Paul had landed his 3rd swim-bait fish on a 6-inch trout. What was amazing was ... those 2.5 LB. spots were eating that trout as if they were BIG fish. I spent muck of the day tossing various crankbaits.

    Tips: The fish we caught were scattered between 10 and 40 feet. The bite was definitley better early (before 10 am). I think if you stick to D/S, S/S and Dart Head rigs in earth tones - you will do fine. We also had success on Swim Baits and large, deep-diving crankbaits in bright colors.

    Report: Fished sunrise to 3:30. Good bit first thing in the morning. No topwater or Suspended fish all in deeper water 30-50 feet next to steep drop offs. Fished north part of lake then about 11:00 Went to the narrows and fished deeper water on the north faces. Some good fish biggest was 4.3 Spot. About a 15 fish day, lost more than got in the boat. very light bite, must concentrate on slow presentation and soft bites.

    Tips: 5" green pumpkin/black flake Hula Grub With 1/2 oz football jig head. fish slow slow slow. 30-50 ft water near steep dropoffs.

    Report: Went out with my daughter on 12/31, arrived @ 8:30am at capel's and was off the water by 2pm. We stayed in the narrows and caught fish in the 35-40 ft range. All fish came on a 1oz football head with yamamoto spider grub, the fish seemed to be on secondary points with more dirt than rocks. My retrieve was slow, dragging the football head over submerged rocks and timber. The bite was not very hard, but more mushy feeling. The first few bites were short and did not hook-up. I then added smelly jelly and missed only a few. Best five would have went 11 lbs maybe. Good luck!

    Report: In response to the request for tips on shore fishing on Lake B, I agree, it's a tough lake to shore fish. Before I had a boat, I got frustrated with shore fishing on Lake B and didn't want to spend the ridiculous prices for a boat rental so I invested in a float tube. I still have it and use it on mountain lakes from time to time. Anyway, it did the trick on Lake B. I got a little exersize from kicking around all day and I was able to get on some fish and have some pretty productive days. You'd be surprised at how much water you wind up covering when you are out there for a while. My favorite spot to launch my tube was from the area around the northern most bridge on the west side of the lake. I fished the areas west of the bridge (Putah Creek side) and that's still a favorite area of mine in the boat, especially this time of year. Good luck!

    Tips: About an hour or two after you first launch you might notice your tube seems a little soft like it's leaking air or something. Don't panic, it's just a result of the the air in the tube compressing from being chilled by the cold water. Just pull over and give it a few shots from a hand pump and you should be good for the rest of the day.

    Report: First time at this lake. My boat is back in Fresno which turned out to be a killer. Tough lake to shore fish esspecially with the water so high. Fished west side of Pope Canyon. One nice smallie and two small spots from 8-11am. Spent most of the time undoing my friend's ratnests. One fish on small white spinnerbait, one dartheading 4" curly tail charteuse worm, one on a gold/orange husky jerk. Saw a lot of fish on nests in the shallows, really shallow. Spooked a lot while walking the bank, but they would always come right back to the same spot a few seconds later. Spawn is late this year. Couldnt get the bed fish to bite. Saw some nice females laying down.

    Report: In response to Chris re the Christmas trees. Yes the Fairfield Suisun Bass Reapers sunk around 1000 Christmas Trees in lake Berryessa this year.

    In response to your question; Yes! They are in the lake!

    Report: Fished Berryessa for the first time with relative success, thanks to all those who contribute to this message board. Thanks. Caught 5 LM for 10lbs, split shotting Watermelon Brush Hogs. Concentrated on the north west part of the lake around the rocks.

    Report: Does anyone out there know how to catch carp. I ish a private pond that has monster carp in it. Besides a shotgun what is the best way to catch carp. What type o rig and what to use or bait. Any help would be great

    Report: Yeah we was up in this boat dog..ishing or bass. I was using sliced hotdogs to catch cats. No luck but my homie was throwing mad speed traps in black and orange. Bass...ALL DAY. Hella bass....I wish I had some skills...anyhow...late.
