    Water Temp: cold!!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished couple hours this last Friday aternoon and ull days Saturday and Sunday. Weather pattern made it an easy decision or me and stayed south, launching out o Rivers End. Friday was tough, two ish in old river, missed several more - very cold and stained water. One caught on T-rigged worm and one on rip bait. Missed couple more on worm while ishing near mouths o sloughs/cuts with some wood and depth nearby. Rip ish came o nothing bank with weed wall. Slow retrieves used. Saturday nearly as bad, and it was very cold. Started in Old River, caught one on iretiger crankbait on edge o large lat missed couple on spinnerbait slow rolled and on spade-tail T-rigged worm. Tried to run north, ished Disco bay, not a bite. Ran back south, started ishing around Widdow's Island/Italian slough, caught 5 small keepers and missed as many. Overall a tough day or 6 small keepers, and kept missing ish as well. Sunday decided to regroup and SLOWLY ish old river with worm and blades. Missed two on blades, then went 5 or 5 on worm and crankbait. Ran north to Widdow's/Italian area, caught 5 more and missed as many again! ARGH! 10 ish or the day, nine were small, one around 4+lbs. Big ish came on slow crankbait o lat again. Worm ish were taking real slow crawl with occasional twitch on bottom. Split shotting and rip bite would not go or me. The ormula that was inally working was to careully look or areas where sun had warmed water a bit, bait was present, depth nearby, and every place that I got bit had some weeds. Not necessarily heavy weeds, but at least a strand or two o green weed, not dead stu. Still can't locate big ish, but had a nice weekend. Met some real nice olks while out on Sunday.
    City: hal moon bay

Tips: Hopeully the controversy has died down. Just want to remind olks that the report that stirred things up said the Jersey Side o Taylor. I can assure you that I have ished the entire length rom the erry landing to Dutch/Piper on that side, and pulled numerous ish all along that entire shoreline at dierent times. That is not too speciic in my opinion, covering several miles o water. Also, I have gone in there right behind others and killed them while they would swear there were no ish around, AND on other days had the same thing happen to me. So lets everyone take it easy. This is supposed to be un. I get almost as much o a kick seein' others catch as I do catchin' em mysel!Best Regards, andGod Bless,Rob T

    Water Temp: ??

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished south Delta Saturday. Still tough bite. Missed several hits on plastics and one on spinnerbait. Ran all the way to Sugar cut area, saw some promising areas that will need to be checked later, but no ish that day. Decided to change game plan Sunday, and went into Taylor Slough, knew that ish would be in there this time o year. Was hoping or clear water to try ripping. Water was a tad too murky or that, but tried or an hour or so anyway. Two hits, one striper. Decided to slow down, and recalled getting ish here last year on plastics. Used T-rigged worm with brass and glass to pitch Jersey Island side o Taylor. Fish were tight to weed clumps but biting. Put seven decent keepers in boat, missed several more. The worm was the trick. Most ish hit on all and were pretty aggressive. Best ive over 10 lbs total, which considering my last series o trips is enough to make me smile.
    City: hal moon bay

Tips: Sun warmed banks, weeds (not always right on the bank, hal o ish hit well o bank in weed clumps.) and shaking a brass and glass with dark worm worked or me.Good luck, and God Bless,Rob T

    Water Temp: >50?

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished South Delta last Saturday, Jan 5th, or hal day. Real tough day, only a couple o taps on spinnerbait in old river. Nothing on Jigs or crankbaits. Know ish are there, but could not get them to go. Ran to Taylor, water dirty, but ripped or an hour. No hits again. Called it a day. Did manage to hook a big carp with rip bait in old river. Got pretty excited until ish came up and I saw it. Hooked in the mouth as i it was trying to eat my pointer minnow. Maybe 12-15 lbs, quite a war, and un nonetheless.Hope others did better than me.Good luck, and God Bless,Rob T
    City: hal moon bay

Tips: Have two areas that I know are holding some ish, but could not get them to go. Will try something dierent (plastics?) this weekend.

Tips: Fished real slow,,,mostly main lake,on small rock banks....

    Water Temp: 52-53

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the south end rom 2 to about 4:30. Got a 1 1/2 on my second cast w/ a white crank. Came o a rock point on a main channel (Old River). Lost a second ish (elt even smaller)on another main channel rock point on the same crank. That was the extent o my action. I'm not sure i my temp meter was reading correctly cause it read between 52 and 53,,that's not too bad or this time o year and the ish should be more active i it's correct. The water was still very dirty, at best was only about 18 inches visibility

    Water Temp: cold

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished last Saturday, Sunday, then Thursday and Friday (Dec. 22,23,27,28). Had good luck overall. South Delta, used blades, rip baits, brown jigs, and crankbaits/rattletraps. Chartreuse or larger baits with slower presentation worked best. Fish mostly setting up on what little weed wall there was. Not too deep. 15 ish Saturday, 1-4+ lbs. My best Delta bag to date. Best 7 near 17 lbs. 35+ ish on Sunday, largest only 3.5, but many 1.5-2 lb ish. Lots o un. Tried new water most o day on thursday, ended up going back to area that was holding ish to put 5 in boat, missed 5 or six hits that day, trying new stu out - rod too sti, missing ish. Friday went back to soter rod with cranks and blades, 14 ish up to 4 lbs-think I saw Steve Sapp at the dock (Launched out o rivers end). Apparently I have lucked into a south delta area similar to the numbers o ish I hit in Taylor last year - in our trips have boated 65 ish or so almost all but 3 or our keepers, with enough 2+ lb ish to make it interesting. Have missed two much larger ish, so better ones are also there. Had to go to wedding today, could not ish NCC, would have been un.Happy New Year and God Bless,Rob T
    City: hal moon bay

Tips: Water clarity or lack thereo dictated what I was eective with. Clearer water good with rip bait and rattletrap. Dirty water good with blades and iretiger speedtrap. Jig ish were very shallow (less than 1 oot!) No luck on plastic worms T-rigged or mojo'ed, but I did not try very long with these, simply didn't "eel" like the right bait.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished hal day Saturday and Sunday this last weekend. Saturday got late start, ran into old river to area that held ish the previous weekend. Started Throwing spinnerbait and crankbait (1/4 oz iretiger speedtrap) hit a decent pocket o ish, 9 small keeper blackies in about 30 minutes in a spot about 100 eet wide (largest only 2 lbs). Saw two nice iberglass boats ishing nearby, spoke to them, and when they said they were ishing a tournament, told them they could have the water, cranked up my tin bote and let the area. Ran to Whiskey, pulled two more on rattletrap (1.5-2 lbs), nothing on jig or plastic. 11 ish rom 1-2 lbs or hal day eort. Sunday promised mysel to explore ourteenmile and disappointment in order to look or bigger ish. Launched out o River's End, and couldn't resist a quick check o the spot in Old River that had been holding up so well. Sure enough, second cast with iretiger speedtrap, a small keeper, next cast, a better ish (looked to be between 2-3 lbs) shakes o at boat. Boated two more keepers on next ive casts - nice healthy looking ish. Clearly ish have not all been caught, but not real big. Miss another one and move o the spot so as not to wear it out. Checked out other nearby areas without a hit. Should point out that I went to using the trap not because the spinnerbait was not working, but because it seemed that I could get a higher percentage o hookups, although the ish seemed a bit smaller with the trap. Let old river and made the run to 14 mile, spinnerbaited less dingy water. Area looked good, but no bait and no hits on traps or blades (where I was a bit shallow or my taste, and . Ran to back end o disappointment, ished tule wall on South side with deep water nearby - no hits on reaper, crankbaits or blades. Tried weedwall on islands, no hits there. Pretty cold. Area looked great, some bait nearby, good clarity, but no ish. I do not have a clue as to how to ish these new areas, but they look real promising, so I intend to study them a bit more. Jig ished on the way back in Lindeman cut, caught one small one, tough day, total o 4 small ish in the boat, but learning a little more each time out.Good luck, Happy Holidays, andGod Bless,Rob T
    City: Hal Moon Bay

Tips: As ar as old river/south Delta, keep moving until you hit a ish, then stop and work over area careully. Dead water is not that good or me (dying rotten weeds, no current, no lie), I look or evidence o lie - bait, birds, healthy aquatic vegetation, decent clarity, deeper water nearby and a little bit o current to help better get an idea o how ish may be positioning - no big insights here. As ar at disappointment and 14 mile - not a clue.

    Water Temp: cooler- below 5

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Went out Tuesday ater the ront to see what had happened to the ish I ound beore the ront in Old River. Quite a change-colder muddy water. One hit in two hours. Decided this was not going to work, so hunted or clearer water out o wind. Ended up around Victoria, stumbled onto a small group o bass and got a limit in about an hour. Missed several-the bite has gotten real subtle. Some on spinnerbait, some on crankbait. Basic scheme was healthy weedwall on structure (depth change, 6 to 9 eet on my graph, South acing banks, some evidence o bait in area, and slow retrieve along weedwall. Fish were bunched up again, caught all o em in a 100 yard stretch. Let the area, trying more new water in Italian. No luck, but mostly just looking, not ishing. Ran into Dee Thomas, said he and his partner had done ok. Considering the conditions, 10 bites or 5 ish elt pretty good. No big ish, all 1-1.5 lb small keepers.Good luck, andGod Bless,Rob T
    City: hal moon bay

Tips: Went to my old reliable "hunt" bait, a rattletrap to locate ish. Seemed to work ok.

    Water Temp: 50-52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished out o River's end Saturday and hal day Sunday. Tried new water in South Delta. Got on pretty good bite with brown jig and blades. Saturday 4 ish to 3 lbs in a couple o hours, missed several more-igured I had located ish, so let them alone or ishing next day, and ran north, caught 4 stripers to 12 lbs lost one decent (2lbs) black bass at boat on rip bait. Sunday went back to South delta area that I had located ish on. Got out late, but managed 12 black bass, no monsters, best was 4 lbs, but a number o 2 and 3 lbers as well. All in a small area, seemed bunched up. Nice part is that I barely burned any uel. Finally managing to solve the South Delta riddle a little bit. Total was 16 blackies or the weekend, all decent ish, and 4 stripers. Tried a variety o stu, best luck was with blades and jigs. Couple o rip bait ish as well. Because I saw others ishing the area that may have been preishing or tourneys, I cannot be more speciic, but the generel pattern was sun exposed banks, deined weedline with 6-9 eet o water on weedline edge, and a little current. I water was not moving, or moving too ast, no ish. I less than 4 eet, no ish. I no cover, no ish. Midday was best. The hits were all very light, no real thunks or taps. Even the blade bites were simply my noticing something "dierent", and setting the hook - caught a lot o weeds, but some ish as well.Good luck to all,and God Bless.Rob T
    City: Hal Moon Bay

Tips: Fish seemed to be moving into winter pattern. Real slow retrieve needed on all baits.

Report: Nat and I were up on Saturday to preish or the Hook Tourney..Thick og, but started to thin out around 10 or so..Tried a lot o everything, but not much luck..Nat inally naile one (about threepounds about 30 minutes beore we called it quits..Sunday we launched at irst light..Some rain, but the wind was not too bad..No og..Started out lipping jigs and tossing spinnerbaits, couldn't buy a bite..Tried some crank baits and lipping senkos..Nothing on the cranks, we nailed a 4+ and a 2+ on senkos lipped into the tules with deep water nearby..It was enough to put us in 13 place out o 56 boats..
    City: San Jose

Tips: Tried the normal cold water and all baits, my only comment is to keep trying them and try to work in areas near deeper water..

    Water Temp: 59-61

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went into work and just couldn't stand looking out the window and watching that rain come in. Finally decided to call it a day at noon and trailered the boat to the S. Delta. The reaction bite was on. Launched at around 1pm which was high water down south. Had a limit on blades and cranks in 30 min. Over the next 2 hours I caught 16 ish and most were 2.5-3# chunks. Some good ish moved shallow with the stop and go ran and overcast skys. I stuggled a bit with the lower water in the evening ishin outside weedlines.
    City: Danville

Tips: The ish seem to be keying in on shad and are very at rom gorging or the winter. I'm sure they are eating crawdads too as the water temp is still holding at around 60 but white and shad pattern reaction baits were working well yesterday. During High Tide Look or extended weed lats on rip rap banks in 3-6 t o water. Hope this helps those that are getting out over the Thanksgiving Holiday!

    Water Temp: 60-61

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the Hook Tourney Sun. with my buddy Troy. It was a great day to be on the water. There was much talk about the og but we stayed West all day and had NO og. I spoke with a ew anglers who stated the og was key to the reaction bite. Started o with topwater, blades and shallow cranks. Picked up a ew dinks ish in the break on Shad Pattern Shallow cranks. Went to lippin jigs and plastics and had a limit in the boat in a couple o hours. I've been using a 1/2 oz jig or the last ew months but a brown 1/4oz seemed to be the ticket over the weekend. As they suspend in the all they sometimes preer the slower decent o the 1/4oz but they weren't hitting it on the all. It seemed that because o the dead calm conditions that they just wanted a little inesse. The jig ish were in 5-7t o water in sparse grass & wood. We also caught ish on plastics tight to tules in around 8t o water. We ended up with 16+ lbs and didn't even come close to getting a check. The surprise o the day was a 9# steelhead on a plastic worm!
    City: Danville

Tips: I made decision to put the T-mtr down and just ish or 9hrs. The all bite is on and maybe we should o run a little to get some quality ish.

    Water Temp: 62

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: I ished the Basin Bassmasters TOC on 11-17, launching out o B&W. It was a bizarre day, being that the weather changed about 10 times that day. My partner Gary Hughes and I ran up to Sycamore Slough, where I had gotten on a pretty good bite the week beore. I had been on a pretty good pattern ishing plastics outside the weed lines, but I knew i we didn't get on ish right away that it was going to tough. Sure enough ater the irst hour we only had one 2 1/2 pounder. By 11am we had only hooked into a ew dinks and decided to make a run up into Beaver. Ater 1 hour and only a ew more small ish we ran back to where we started, because I knew there were ish there. Right away I hooked a keeper ishing a lipless crank in the weeds or our 2nd good ish o the day. About an hour later Gary hooks a real nice ish on a lipless and when it peels some drag all I could think was "please don't let it be a striper". Just when I thought that, a big ol' ootball blackie comes rolling on the surace. We netted it and it went 5.46. Right ater that I hooked another nice ish, but it turned out to be about a 4 pound striper. We did get 1 more ish on a plastic to end the day but only had 4 ish. Turned out it was enough and we won with just under 11 pounds. On 11-18 John Kort and I launched out o Paradise and went to a spot where we were killin' them last year at this time. The key is that it's a rip-rap wall with tules, but it doesn't all o into deep water right away. It stays about 5 eet deep 30 eet out or so o the wall beore going into 20 eet o water. This is a perect eeding lat or bass that gives them deep water to run to i they want it. We did get some decent ish there, but the water is not quite clear enough yet or it to be on ire. Another week o cold weather and it should really turn on. We then went to Whites and got on a good mix o bass to 2 pounds and striper to 8 pounds. We also hit Potato and got another 5 stripers and called it a day at 2pm. We ended the day with a dozen bass and 9 striper. Our best 5 bass went around 9 pounds or so.
    City: roseville

Tips: Remember that water clarity is a must. These ish are starting to eed heavily or the winter and you will get a lot more chances o getting ish i you are ishing clear water. Every hit I got both days o ishing were good solid hits. The plastic ish were practically swallowing the bait beore I could set the hook.

Report: Fished the Hook Tourn with Dave. Caught 12 ish and weight in 6 ish or 12+ lbs. Had a 5 ish in the boat in 25 min ater launching and thought it was going to be a great day.irst 2 big ish came o a 6" CO worm and the rest on Senko in 10-15 t o water. the water was pretty clear where we were, but we were in the og all day.
    City: Fremont

Tips: Water is cooling, so slow it down. Stay out o the og and maybe you can keep up with the BIG BOYS. Better luck next time Jr.

Report: Pre-ished or the Hook tourney on Saturday, never could ind the schooling ish..Tried Senkos, jigs, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits in and around the Break..Not much results, two dinks and one keeper (around 2 pounds)..Tourney time, spent most o the day lipping the tules with Senkos and working the edges with crankbaits and spinnerbaits..not much results (2 keepers or 5.59 pounds-Nat's)..We know the ish are there, but having one hell o a time inding them.

    Water Temp: not available

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched rom Helen and Herman's at sae light and ished tule berms and saddles in cuts, sloughs as well as areas adjacent to main San Joaquin. The wind was howling rom the south and rain was imminent, but this was the weather to get them going. Although the action was sporatic, when the ish went they ate the bottom o the boat. First stop o the day was in Columbia Cut and the terns were diving and the stripers were puddling on shad however we couldn't get anything bigger than 15 inches out o the school. Judging by the some o the boils there were larger ish mixed in with the micros but they wouldn't go. We moved urther into the cut and stopped on the upwind side o a tule berm and "it was on". I missed a ish on the irst cast and Deadstick (Paul)hooked into a iesty 5-6 lb. striper. While I was netting the ish my dangling lure got swatted but no hook-up. A ew more casts and I had one just like Deadstick's. Deadstick picked up one more 5-6 lbr. and we missed a ew others but as quickly as it started, they were gone. We moved urther along the berm into a saddle where we had a nice snap o under-sized stripers and a 3lb blackie which came on an Excaliber spook. We tried other areas in Columbia and didn't ind any takers until we stopped around Tinsley Island. Here we got into hal a dozen short stripers and a pair o blackies, one o which was better than 4lbs. The big blackie o the day came on a loating minnow-type lure and it crushed the bait as soon as it hit the water. We worked to the end o the berm, and again, it was on. We got over 20 stripers on this stop and let only because the sun was gone. Deadstick got the big ish (32inches), but I landed 3 between 5-6 lbs while his big ish had its way. Even as we motored back up-current or another pass (no trolling motor on the rat) Deadstick was catching a mixed bag o shorts and keepers on the troll. The ish ate the bait as soon as we could get them back into the water. All in all a good day on the "Blow-up-Dolly".
    City: Sactown

Tips: Look or diving birds, jumping ish, or clear water on weedbed lats adjacent to well-mixed water rom main channels. Both snaps came on the down current side o berms. All variations o retrieves worked, that day anyway.

Report: Went out o Del's at 6am. Headed North. Fished sparse tulies along rock banks where my buddy Feltch picked up 2 on a speed trap. Nothing on the jig, nothing on the senko. Drove around or a while and ended up a little south o Disco where I picked one up on a blade. Lost a decent one at the boat. Other than that it was slow, but you can't complain about the weather!!!

Report: Fished in the south, below Victoria, on avorite spots and new untried areas. The avorites paid o with keepers including a 6. The new spots were so-so but OK or a irst try. The 6 pounder came lippin a Senko in shallow weeds on a rip-rap bank in a main channel. Others came on Senkos and crankbaits. Nothing special except the big one.

    Water Temp: 67

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Spent 3 days on the water and it was average at best. We were ishing in the New Bass Grand Fish O on Sat and Sun, so we decided to pre-ish on Friday. The irst day we managed to get a limit o bass to 9 pounds or so. It was a beautiul day to be ishing, but we were actally hoping or the cooler weather to roll in and turn on the reaction bite. We got most o our ish on senkos and dark plastics. We also got into some striper action, which was a kick. Our biggest striper went 9 pounds. On the 2nd morning, whch was day one o tourney, we woke up to breezy, cool, cloudy conditions. We knew the reaction bite would be on, but could we ind the quality. We got to our avorite reaction bait spot around 7:40 ( we were the 93rd boat out) and had a limit by 8:45. The bite was on, but our biggest ish was only 2.4 pounds. We probably put 50 ish in the boat by 11am but couldn't upgrade the limit. We just kept thinking that we would have to blast a 3 pounder sooner or later. It didn't happen. 1 1/2 pound ish are a blast to catch, but they won't do much good in a tourney when your ishing against the big boys. We went to some wooded areas to try and get some better plastic ish, but no go. 1st day limit 5 ish or 8 1/2 pounds. Day 2, we arrived to complete opposite conditions. Calm, clear and warmer. Bummer. We didn't have a ish until 10:30 when I managed to get a little weed line pattern in 4 to 6 eet o water and caught 3 keeper plastic ish to 2 pounds in a matter o 20 minutes or so. John ollowed that up with 2 crank ish and we had are limit at 11:30, but it was even smaller than the day beore. We knew we had no chance o climbing in the standings at that point, so we tied on some swim baits in hopes o bagging a trophy and getting in to some big ish money. It worked right away, as we hit an 8,6 and two 5's. The problem was, they were striper. They were thick. We had 6 hook ups in a matter o 20 minutes, but decided we should probably think about ocusing on the tournament. Damn, that striper stu is un though. We didn't upgrade the rest o the aternoon and ended up weighing in 7 1/2 pounds or a 2 day total o 16 pounds.
    City: roseville

Tips: Was really hoping that the cooler weather would've hit a week earlier. We were really counting on the reaction bite to keep us in the money. It is raining and blowing like a mother today. Perect conditions when the bass are going in to their winter load up pattern. I love the winter, spring and late all bite on the delta. It's that summer thru mid-all bite that gives me it's. Oh well, guess I better just work a little harder during that period.
