Report: Night ished Friday and Saturday. Friday, stayed in the rattlesnake arm and ished rockpiles exclusively. Started out throwing worms, jigs, and cranks. Ater 2 hours, decided the crank (DD 22) was what they wanted. Lots o bites, but seemed like they were just slapping it, oul hooked a ew, and I lost a ew. Fun night, plenty o action, largest 5.5. Start at 6 pm on Saturday, and put 2 in the boat (3-4 lbs.) on a trixie shad beore the sun goes down (a curious mink also seemed to like that bait!). Much more traic Saturday night, seemed like a boat was camped at every spot I wanted to ish. Also, some people just dont seem to have any manners or consideration, maybe the urge to do well in a tournament is too much temptation to crowd someone on a small spot (Gilroy?). Fished a crank almost exclusively with a handul o ish between 1 and 2 lbs. and a ew between 3 and 4. The bite was deinitely not near as good as Friday. End the night with a 6.25, 5 best at 19 1/2.
    City: Carmichael

Tips: No doubt, the crankbait was it. Friday, best action started at 2am and lasted 45 minutes. Saturday, slow with biggest ish hitting at 3am. Had to weed through a bunch o small ish to ind the ocassional nice one. Rocks and crankbaits.

Report: Kris and I got a late start sunday evening just in time to hear Toby Kieth playing a good concert at Konocti. Even witnessed a good ireworks display aterward. The bite at dusk was very dissappointing as we picked up our irst ish at 10:00 pm, a 2 lber. North o the resort, kris gets a 3 on a 10"worm. Dollar and Shag rock were dead(I cant seem to get the timing right on these spots this year. An oshore rockpile in the rattlesnake arm gave me my irst ever smallmouth in this lake, a 2.5. Kris gets a 4 o o rattlesnake at about midnight. 3 more keepers near redbud by 3am, up to 2.5 lbs.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I am somewhat rustrated at my results night ishing here this year. 3 trips and our best 5 averaging around 13 lbs. Our club tourney here on the august ull moon was won w/18 lbs(Good job Ripper!). On that night, Larry H. had 18 lbs with two clients, so he wasnt sacking them up either. Quality bites are ew and ar between or me. The well known spots are getting hammered repeatedly all night (by me included!). Most o our ish came in out o the way places. I am reluctant to say that the pressure is making the ish wary though. I had hoped that august would be a good month though. Interestingly enough, on this night, only we only caught one short ish. All ish on 10" worms and brushogs. Several hits on jigs, but none in the boat.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Much dierent than my earlier trips. 10 degree drop in water temps. Started at 9:30 pm and stopped at 1:00 am. The ishing was much slower than 3 weeks ago. I picked up a 4.3 lber on a 8 inch grub, 3 in the 2-3 lb range on a Norman crank and a couple on 12-13 inchers on a jig beore calling it quits. I saw alot o boats ishing again unlike my earlier trips and it would be interesting to hear how they did. Saturday was alot o small 12-13 inchers on the drop shot and my bigger ish were on a pearch colored ristro rap crank.
    City: sacto

Tips: It seems like the ish have moved up shallower. The bigger ish were on the crank in 9-12 eet o water and more spread out. I did not try top water.

Report: My buddy steve about summed it up. Probably the best trip this year or numbers. On Friday night the bite was wide open rom dusk until 12:30 or so. Picked up 4 over 5lbs during this period. The 8 came around 2:30 ater an hour or so o no bites. Also picked up a bigger than 15 lb catish ( scale only goes to 15), on a jig.The weight was up at night, top 7 around 36 lbs however the numbers were higher during the day. The largest ish during the day on Saturday was around 4 with 5 or 6 threes. Finally the post spawn is over. I wish the delta would get the message.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Biggest ish this trip, the 8 was a jig ish and likewise or the catish. Two o my 5's were jig ish and one o the 5's came on a 10' zipper the other on a 8'grub. Cranks worked well the irst hal o the night, both the little Norman and DD22. Spinner bait picked up a ew at night. Drop shot ish were on o shore humps that topped out at 18-26 eet. Arrons magic robo was the ticket or me but rankly i the ish were there about anything worked. Nothing on a top water other than a ew deensive slaps at the spook.

Report: Spent another great 28 hour marathon on the Big Pond. Started hour beore dusk Friday nite and into morning. Quit at 4:30 a.m. bite had slowed and then at it again ater breakast. They need rest too. Pretty much got schooled by my buddy up ront. No top-water at all. Five or six ish rom 5-6 lbs. and a 8 lb. ish at 3 to 15 eet depending on their in and out rotation. 30 + ish 13 inches or over and 2 dozen will-he-goes. Guess over 60 lbs in a quarter mile "milk'run". Big ish was long and all mouth but slightly thin. Double digit i she'd piged out some and planned a amily.Majority o ish caught on big plastics (8" Yama grub, 10" ribbed/spade tip worm) and jigs wormed slow. I stayed with a new purchase, Skeet's Snap-back Creature! Disappointed. They are not a Brush-hog, only in looks. Damn things entangle around shank behind barb so won't compress on hook-set i you do get bit. Must eel unnatural to ish. Need to do more curls to drive EWG home. That's my excuse besides stubbornness or my spanking. Good drop-shot all day long. No particular bait, size, color but wacky maybe tad better. Aaron's robo no. 2 4" worm very consistent. Best trip this summer. Minimal wind and great stary sky. Dark and peaceul until the conrontation and she's on the deck or the scale and camera dance.
    City: Carmichael

Tips: Work rocky humps and break lines with deep access. Be patient, good ish on ambush sites intermittently.

Report: FISHED ALL three days in super hot temperature.. riday bite was wide open. we caught about 30 ish with several in the 3-4 pound class.. almost everything worked or us except rogs. got igure really hot no rog bite .. maybe later in the day might have been better or rogs we got o the water at 1pm. too hot or us old guys ?? we decided that the north end was too weedy or us so decided to ish south or our two day tourney sat & sunday . proved a good option as my partner won our tourney . saturdays quality was down a little rom riday but quanity stayed the same all weekend. my partner caught most ish drop shotting a small 4 inch worm . and i got most o mine on a 8 inch green pumpkin dead ringer ( thanks larry) my partner got a 6 + sat which won big ish . sat i was drop shoting when i stuck what i thought was a hog. turned out to be a carp o about 30 pounds. actually got it to the net on 8 pound test on a spinning outit.. riday we had a nice top water bite but nothing sat and sunday..everyone in our club got a least 5 ish total and lots o two day limits
    City: SUNNYVALE

Tips: drop shot and big plastics... most ish caught on the ends o docks with 12-15 eet o water . water is just misrably hot close to the bank ... we had one guy catch a 2 lb ish on a brush hog and when they got it close to the net there was about an 8 pounder try to bite the brush hog hanging rom the small ish . they said they stopped reeling and the big ish tried or about 30 seconds and then just gave up... anyway good bite right now and there was no wind.. drink alot o luids and be sae !!! bob

Report: Got on the water about 8:00 pm and ished till 7:30 am. was able to pick up an evenning and dawn topwater bite which was not much to get excited over. Two 2-3 lbers on a jr. spook pm and 1 1.5 -2.0 lber on the jr. in the am. That was it or the top water and I threw that muskie sized jitterbug o and on all night. I lost the biggest bass I have seen to date, much bigger than my 12 out o Berryessa this spring. Big mistake- I thought she was a cat ish and did not get serious until too late. About 9:30 not guite dark enough or the black light so I'm still using Sugi Flourocarbon in 14lb on a june bug brush hog, tic and I turned reeling up slack to get ready or my hook set when the rod was about jerked out o my hand. I set hard and the rod bottomed out. Not many ish bottom out a loomis 844. the ish went deep under the boat a took two long runs on drag. Now I'm thinking, great another catish to slime my carpet. About this time the ish shot straight up and broke water behind the big motor. The rest happened so quick I elt like a total rookie. First she tried to wrap me in the prop and while I'm down on one knee on the ront deck raising the motor she charges to the ront and tries the same tactic on the trolling motor. I plunge the rod down to the reel and try to sweep the line around the trolling motor and she broke water just o the starboard bow. All mouth and long. The trolling motor did the trick, see ya. Oh well, lots o small ish to start with ater dark. No jig bite tonight and upsized my bait to a 10 in zipper worm that limit out ordered or me. Nothing on the 10 power worm. Dinks kept biting the tail o my 8'grub. Two big ish landed or the night, a 6.3 around 2:30 and 8.4 at 5:10 am o the same rock hump, 17 oot o water.Ater daylight picked up 6 ish , one on a jr. spook and 5 on a brush hog, nothing over 2 lbs. Great night, not much wind and cool.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Bigger ish on my last three night trips have all be at least 15 eet down.Lesson o the trip, never limit yoursel by your initial impression. Don't ask me how in the pitch black o night worm size matters, would not touch the 10 long power worm but destroyed the 10 long zipper. Maybe the ribbs hold more smelly jelly, who knows. Don't hesitate to switch things up. I worked the same three humps o and on all night, with a jig, nata - power worm , nope - and pick up the zipper 2nd cast the 8.4. Nothing on blades, 3 on a Norman crank, clone 2-3lbers.

Report: Took the amily up or the week. Stopped at Limit Out tackle shop, picked up some Zoom dead ringers in Junebug & Watermelon red lake. With the irst cast my middle son caught a 5.5 soon ater I got a 6.6 on a rog, missed a double digit on a rog. Caught a ew at night. Caught a ton o ish nothing real big. Even my 8 year old daughter caught a 2 pounder. stopped at Tackle It bait store and picked up some 6 inch Senkos BLK/RED or the Delta. Also had Blk/Red rogs.
    City: Elk Grove

Tips: Senko bite was'nt too good. Topwater bite was good. Caught a ew on a swimbait. Caught majority on a spider grub WatermelonRed. Boys caught a lot on Rat~L~ Traps. Anything in Purples are working well.

Report: Night trip on Friday was much dierent than beore. Picked up 9 ish to 4.5 lbs but the majority were in the 2-3 lb range. Not in the nine were several small 4-6 in uture ootballs. Aggressive little buggers. The dierence was in the past I have never caught small ish at night in this lake. Most run 4lb. plus. My partner drew a blank or the night portion. We were hoping to catch the irst light bite but went to take a nap about 3:30 and when we woke up it was 9:00, opps. Anyway a nice ellow and lady had just caught a 8.9 lber in ront o our boat hotel and were doing well on that streach o bank . Nice people and I hope they did well in the Anglers Choice Tourn. The wind was relentless most o the night and all day Saturday. Gooed o , slept, and lounged around till 5:30 pm and ished till dark. We picked up 7 good keeper ish and 2 kickers each about 4.5 to 5 lbs beore dark. The wind never quit and let me tell you the ride rom the South end to Lucerene Was a B - - - -!
    City: Sacramento,

Tips: I have had good luck at night with the Yamamoto 8" grub, Florida rigged on a round bend 5.0 hook. Watermelon red or any dark color. Insert a small rattle and lots o smelly Jelly. Like a senko they will not drop this bait ater the pickup. The jig accounted or 5 or 6 ish but it was picking up the smaller ish. Couple o nice ish on a Norman Crank, mid-night blue and a craw colored DD-22, nothing on a spinnerbait or topwater. Kept slinging this Muskie sized black Jitterbug with three BIG hooks hanging o it o and on all night. Nata, Saturday was windy all day and most o our ish were on brushhogs, texas rigged in Castic, watermelon red, and brown pumpkin. Actually, all our ish on Saturday aternoon were on this other than a ew dinks on a crank. One nice ish on a Rico right at dark. Rock/tulle, isolated tulle on rock. Every on had ish on it . Rock , boulder and chunk, boat in 15-20 oot o water. Beats the hell out o ishing in 100 heat.

Report: Went to clearlake with my new partner over the 4th o july holiday. Was taking her out to teach her to bass ish, since she had expressed interest. Fished Friday and Saturday, hal days each time, mostly showing partner how to cast, etc. She was a real trooper, although in two days she did not get a bite, but still wants to keep at it. Cool! Now to the ishing report. Actually despite all the crowds, the ishing was great or me. Caught seven on july 3rd in a little over two hours o ishing, up to 6 lbs on crankbaits and senkos. The ourth ished or 3 hours total and caught 10 ish up to 3lbs on cranks, senkos and jigs. All ish were very aggressive, and lost a better one (maybe 5 lbs) at the boat that threw the crankbait. Fish were standing o banks a bit, in deeper water, but really nailing the baits. Good luck to all, and God Bless.Rob T
    City: capitola

Tips: Fished my regular areas and some new spots. Got bites everywhere I tried, so ish were in an active mode, but arther o the banks than usual.

    Water Temp: 78-80

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: First night trip o the summer. NO top water the last hour or so beore dark which was a let down. Watched the sun set in Jago bay and pulled out the black light. Fish did not start hitting until the moon came out which was around 12:30. Unortunately or me I had a quest who does not ish and who was asleep when I lipped the irst ish in the boat. Between 12;30 and 1;30 picked up a 5.3, two 4 something and un but a let down; a 15 lb cat that crunched a ledge buster spinner bait. Fished the aternoon o the 17th rom 12:00 -4:00 looking or a rog bite up by Lakeport. One spawned out emale , 4.6 lbs on a senko. Her mouth was still beat up pretty bad. Nata on the rog except or a bull rog who was a bully and tried to kill roggie.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Better ish and bites on rock humps 15-25 eet. These were probably the early spawners who have already set into the summer pattern.Good clean at ish rom the rock humps.Fish came on a weapon rattlin jig, 3/8 to 1/2 bepending on the wind, twin tail blue/purple grubs and smelly jelly. nata on the 10 inch power worm and a couple o rats on the 7 inch junebug worm. One o the ours came on a Yam. 7 inch grub in red /black, 1/4 oz texas rig.The bats a thick this year. By next moon phase the night ishing should be wide open.

Report: Fished clearlake thurs/ri last week rom my tin bote that I inally got back in the water. Been nearly a year since I had the boat on the lake. Had a decent day Wednesday, got on a jig bite in the morning on the north end, using a brown jig with brown trailer - good quality ish. Caught a couple o small keepers on blades later in morning o tule points, ran to Rattlesnake, caught several small keepers and dinks on rattletrap o walls and tules, hit decent ish on senkos in back o rattlesnake and on glenhaven side o rattlesnake. Fish were very active, eating the baits. Total o 10 ish or so, lost several, and had over 20 bites or the day. Best ive or 20 lbs or so. Next day decided to try new water. Less luck, but still eight blackies on jigs and senkos o walls. Best ive only 11 lbs or so, but since it was a new area or me, really pleased to ind it.Good luck to all, and God Bless,Rob Tressler

Report: FISHED the won bass sat and sunday . saturday started out with the pro orgetting to put plug in . we didn't notice so when i threw my suspenders in bottom o boat WHOOOOSH ... then we had a tough day . couldn't ind ish . only three keepers or 3.90.. sunday ished with a great gentleman and he put us on ish . he had motor troubles sat and had 9. ??? we got a airly early limit but had two 13 inchers. we ished cache creek. with about an hour to go till weigh in we came out o cache and stated on this about 100 yard bank with spinner baits we got seven ish on two passes. we culled one rat with a two and a hal so that helps about a pound .with less than ten minutes ishing time let we came up on a weed bed. there was a small pocket in the weeds. by coincidence we both threw to the same hole. baits landed about a oot apart . he was instatly hit and about two seconds later mine was hit . we must have threw to a bed because he caught about a 1.5 ( male ?) and mine was our pounds ( emale ?). at the weigh in we had 18.90 it was lucky or him because i we had .12 pounds less he wouldn't have won 500..
    City: SUNNYVALE

Tips: caught irst limit on brush hogs senkos and worms...... in last hour all spinner bait ish . too bad we were in irst light . would have been nice to have another hour as the spinner bait bite started late..

Report: Spawn seems to be coming to a close. Very ew bed ish to be ound, although water is dirty over most o the lake making sight ishing tough. Summer patters are turning on with some rog ish showing. Best bet or numbers was jigs and drop shot around docks. Lots o small ish with lots o 3# ish showing them selves at times. Just not during the tournament or me. Frogs are producing the bigger bites, but was only getting about 1 blowup or about every 50 casts.

Report: I have a real love hate relationship with this lake and this trip is no dierent. Friday morning ound tule og , lat calm water with a little chill in the air. Since I was preishing or our tourn. the next morning I did alot o looking and little ishing. Beore the og cleared out around 11:00am I had a 7.4 and a 5.2 , one on a Rico and a 6 inch senko. Ater lunch I picked up another 5.0 , a 4.0 and several 1.5 lb cullers. We had a 10 lb bed ish at our place sort o tucked away and hard to see. The resort owener said she was caught about a week earlier. Regardless, I walked out on the dock beore leaving or the blast o and there she was ,obviously that was our irst stop. Long story shot version, we could not buy a ish on Saturday. Dink ater dink, ater dink. I made a joke to my partner on Friday that ater 22lbs today o not trying and relaxed ishing that we would not need a board. Oh course come Saturday, does anyone have a Go board and we culled done to 3 keepers at 4.6 something. Sweet/ sour, ah Clear lake.
    City: Sacto.

Tips: Heard the winning tech. was split shot baby hogs on 8lb. line. Clearly a post spawn day on Saturday. With over 100 boats ishing most o the ish were small males that came to the scale. There were a ew bed ish and the 7 I got on Friday was gravid and orange as a carp. To make things even worse Monya goes back to the bed ish ater the tourn. and ater working the ish or 25 minutes catches it. Tech. or riday, senko, hula grubs on a Duh swim head, rico, drop shot baby senko #214, whackey rigged at the ends o the docks in 10 -15 t o water. Transition period or me. I'll give Clear Lake a month to become stable and then the black light comes out. No more daylight ishing on this lake or me untill October/November.
