Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Collins while camping with the folks. Collins Lake Camp ground has definetly improved over the last few years. Very clean good job. White spinner baits and shad colored swim baits were the ticket in isolated trees in about 4-8 feet of water. Wait for the wind to blow and go get'em. Best fish 3 lbs caught over 20 in two days top water worked at sundown. Best Collins day in a long time.

    Water Temp: 60

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Muddy Muddy Muddy All reports say the lake is clear. Thats BS. I really think there just trying to get the trout fisherman up there to pay for there new store. Fished from 6 till 9 1 off spinnerbait 2 on alabama rig and 2 on plastics. Nothing big all around 2 lbs. Talk to a few trout fisherman and they said the bite was slow. DBTH thats dont believe the hype. Ive been fishing here for 20 years and they allways make the fishing report better than it really is.

Tips: If your looking for some good bass go some were else. OVERRATED!!!

    Water Temp: 53-57

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: My brother and I fished this lake for the first time. The lake is full and up into the trees. The wind blew us around so we started with rip baits and LV500's in the morning. We kept getting trout on the LV500 in 15 feet. We moved off but did not get anything. When the wind became more manageable we tossed worms and 6 inch Senkos into the trees from 4 ft to about 20 feet. There we started picking up fish and ended up with several in the 13 - 15 inch length. About three the wind got worse so we took a couple trout we had caught home for dinner.

    Water Temp: 50-53

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I took myself up to the lake this afternoon to check out the bite - and found it pretty good. I fished from 2:30 to 5:30 pm, landing 7 spots and 2 largemouth. My first spotted bass was big fish - a little over 3 1/2 lbs. Caught her on the "Hemphill" special - brown/orange jig with #180 5" Yamamoto grub trailer, about 30 feet deep. Cloud cover moved in and might have turned on the bite. I caught all the rest of the bass from 10 to 20 feet deep - west and east shore, mostly on jigs. I threw 6 and 8 inch swimbaits, but no hits.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: One could almost walk across all the trout they planted - wow! Some of the monster bass in Collins should put on a few pounds with those "meals!" I threw a few crankbaits with no success.

    Water Temp: 48

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Haven't been out to collins in over a year, but had a blast! Between the two if us we caught 18 bass with the best five 16.4lbs only got one large mouth that was a tad over three, but the big spots were hungry. It was a nice calm day, but the lake was pretty low. I thought the fish would be deep, but they all came from 5-15' of water.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Fish slow with 1/8oz shaky head matched with a chartreuse chompers 6" worm. And for the spot, well can't give my secret spot away

    Water Temp: 64-6

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Made a 4 hr trip this afternoon with my friend Mike and found the bite to be what we thought after the previous day north wind. It was slow but we had some action. Mike had 6 or 7 hits while drop-shotting, but only landed one keeper. I lost a good fish on the first cast. I started throwing a Chug Bug topwater bait about 5 pm and did go 3 for 3 - two nice largemouth and a 2 lb 3 oz spot. So, the trip wasn't a bust!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: The north wind put the bait deep again - down to 50 + feet. Upcoming rain should get the fall bite going - I hope!

    Water Temp: 76-79

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I fished the last 3 hours of daylight at Collins, Tues afternoon, and did have 7 or 8 hits but only landed 3. Two of them were very nice spots - one close to 4 lbs and the other at 2 1/4. I even had the first topwater fish of the fall season hit, but I lost her. The big spot hit on the west shore as I was reeling in my drop-shotted Basstrix Flashtrix minnow. Those fish never stay on the hook but this one did She hit around 40 feet deep. Other than the topwater fish, all other bites were about 30 to 50 feet deep. Lake is quite full - only down about 20 feet.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I have fished Collins for 35 years now and have never seen the number of shad present in the lake now. Just before dark, the surface almost looked like Amador - with shad everythere - and small bass chasing them. Fishing should be good when the fall turnover happens. I should mention that the Morning Dawn Robo worm got some bites too.

    Water Temp: 64-68

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched my new Ranger Z521 yesterday morning and putted around seeing if anything was biting. I threw a D&M Piranha swim jig next to a bush on the west side and nailed a 3 lb largemouth. Good first fish!! She was in a foot of water. I sight fished 3 more - all spots from 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 lbs. Missed 2 more. Didn't see any large fish at all. I fished for about 3 hours total and played with the boat another hour or so.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Water temp reached 70 when I left at noon, so I assume the spawn has been going on for awhile. The lake appears to be about 2 or 3 feet from max pool. Lots of boats on the water!!!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Got on the lake around 10am. The day was perfect weather, water temperature was mid 50's. But the fish were not where we thought they should be. I did catch one on a Texas rig craw. The bass must be still deep or just being stubborn.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Since we did not find the pattern the only tip I have is keep trying and not to give up. The day on the water is worth it even if you do not catch fish.

    Water Temp: 48-52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I fished Collins today (sunny warm day with a few clouds), and after discounting any reaction bite (cranks/rips), I went to a small spider jig. After the switch, I connected on 7 fat spots with the heaviest @3.2lbs (all other fish >2.25lbs with only one 1.5lber). All of my fish were between 23-27'with no particular area being better than another -stay near deep water.
    City: Loma Rica

Tips: Dragging the 1/4ounce jigs appeared to work the best...bite is subtle, so work your bait slowly.

    Water Temp: 52-54

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I made a short trip to the lake this afternoon - fishing the last 3 hours of the day. The lake is only down 17 feet now. Probably will fill easily soon. I threw swimbaits for about half an hour - no takers. I did get 5 hits on the "Hemphill Special" - brown/orange jig w/ #180 Yamamoto grub trailer. I lost 2 but did land 3 - a 2 lb 6 oz largemouth and spotted bass at 2 lbs and one almost 3 lbs. The biggest one had moved shallow with the rising water and was only 12 feet deep. I worked that depth for awhile but she must have been a stray! The others were about 20 feet on a west shore ledge. A couple of my favorite spots didn't produce any bites. All bass were found on rock piles and ledges.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Today the management put the trout they will raise in the pens near the marina. Remember not to fish within 250 feet of the pens. I think the morning bite might be better than the afternoon bite. Just my feeling.

    Water Temp: 60-63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took a friend fishing in the morning to check out the bite we didn't have a lot of luck but the conditions were perfect cloudy, breezy, and just a touch of a chill thats the best part of this report we did get a couple fish just before noon on morning dawn robos one was a three pound largie the other was 7 inches.
    City: grass valley

Tips: The lake has a lot of water and there is plenty of good structure but the bite wasn't great it should get better the fish we did catch were both spitting shad so that was a good sign maybe the afternoon bite is better.

    Water Temp: 64

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I went to Collins yesterday afternoon to see how the fall bite was. There was a lot of weather changes in the few hours I was there - sun, clouds, rain, stiff breeze. I did find some bass feeding on shad - west side of the lake - and caught 2 on a Blade Runner black shad spoon. I did start with a real nice spotted bass over three pounds that hit my Blade Runner jig. As she came up, she spit up 5 or 6 shad. One was huge!! So, they are starting their fall feed. I caught another nice one on a jig just before dark. Most of the bait seems to be at 35 to 60 feet. I tried topwater without much confidence - and that was the case - not happening yet. All my fish were caught on steep banks.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I hope this was the beginning of the late-fall - winter jig bite. Fishing should get better week by week for the next several weeks. The lake has much more water than at this time last year, so folks will have to hunt a little harder to find off-shore bass.

    Water Temp: 67-70

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Haven't been here in awhile, but managed a nice 21" spot that had a beat up tail from the spawn. Caught her in the empty boat slip next to mine at dusk on Sat. night with a 4" senko. Went out 3 times during the day Sunday with the kids and managed 2 each time. All spots in the 11-13" range. Mostly caught them on senkos and a white 3"? fluke with a some quick rips in less than 8' of water. Monday am caught 6 more on the above baits and hula grub and drop shot. A couple were only 10", but the kids don't care. Saw a few nice trout caught from shore while there. It is nice to see the lake full. Don't know for how long.

    Water Temp: 58-61

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Tried my luck for about 3 1/2 hours this afternoon and found the bite still kinda slow - though I threw swimbaits most of the time. I did catch a nice 2 1/2 lb spot on the east side and missed 2 or 3 others - all on jigs. I was fishing the end of 2 north wind days, so, didn't expect much. Water color is good!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: With colders days at the end of this week, better work your baits very slow. Bass are still lethargic.

    City: grass valley

Tips: the bass are starting to move up with the weather being nice all our fish were pale but chunky caught all are fish between 18 and 10 feet of water on the outsides of coves nothing in the backs fished jigs, hollowbody swimmers and cranks.Oh yeah huds but no takers on those today fish slow in the morning then pick up the pace as the day gets warmer they started hitting the jig on the fall around eleven o'clock good luck and hope you catch some good ones

    Water Temp: 47-49

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I did a little scouting trip yesterday late afternoon and again this morning - about 3 hrs each trip. The lake has nice color in the main body and is fairly dingy up the river. I targeted off shore structure in the main body and found a few takers! I caught 2 and lost one at the boat in the afternoon a missed 3 more. The biggest one took a rainbow trout colored D&M Piranha swim jig in about 15 feet of water. The other bites were on a Blade Runner jig. This morning I only got bit 3 times and landed a largemouth close to 3 lbs and another quality spot - both on a brown/orange jig. I did try to locate some shallow fish but no-go. All bass were on some type of rock structure 12 to 20 feet.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: The lake is down 23 feet but still rising. No bass migrations to the shallows has taken place yet as far as I can see. Nice to see some activity though!

    Water Temp: 68-69

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the last three hours of daylight today and found the bite to still be tough. Typical fall day - no wind, clear water, no clouds. Next week may be what the doctor ordered - some wind and maybe some rain. Most bait and bass seem to be 40 feet and deeper. There was no bait or fish activity at dusk. I tried topwater anyway - nothing. I did spoon a nice 2 lb spot in the middle of the lake, and missed another.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Look for long points and deep drop-offs. They will start to hit topwater - soon I hope!
