Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Took a drive out here today to check things out but they had the gate locked a ways above the dam and ramp. Was hoping to see how much the water was up and if the ramp was usable. North end is high and dry.

    Water Temp: 50

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished for most of the day. Caught a lot throughout the day. Fish seemed to be located on rocky points between 10' to 35'. Also caught a few off of trees. All were pretty much around 1lb with a 5lb 12oz LM mixed in. Caught 5 smallies also. Plastics were the ticket. Green worked the best, but other colors worked. We drop shotted, carolina rigged and the shakey head worm all seemed to work.

    Water Temp: 47 - 51

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Six other boats on lake. Nice weather. Water was MUCH warmer in shallow water near the banks than the center of the lake. Picked up a nice smallie, 4 pounds, trolling for trout just east of the boat ramp. The smallie took a rainbow needle fish, behind flashers, in about 30' of water. Another boat had a couple of 15" trout caught on nightcrawlers behind flashers.
    City: Middletown

Tips: Watch for floating wood! Lots of tree limbs floating all over the lake. Many are hanging vertical with only a small amount of wood showing on the surface. KEEP A SHARP LOOKOUT!

    Water Temp: 78

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Got on the water about 9am, found big school of blacks and smallies off rock point in 28-32' of water. Picked up 14 immediately drop shotting reaction innovation flirts in "Spanish Fly" color. Multiple double hook-ups. worked over to another high verticle bank and found large groups in 12-18'. Largest fish of the day was a 4# smallmouth. Most fish running 1-2.5lbs. Never worked any other baits as we spanked em with the drop shot. Left about 2:30, total of 37 fish. *** Warning*** the fishing was really good, not "Red Hot" but very good. If you are willing to go, be prepared for your boat to be covered in dirt from the 8-10 miles of dirt road taking you to the lake. Took me 2.5hrs to clean up my Ranger. Speed limit on the lake is 10mph. Best thing about it all is that there was only 2 other boats out and one was a friend of mine.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: We found that letting the drop shots fall to about 15-20' in the 30' water picked up the suspended fish really good. All the fish are coughing up small shad. Launch fee is $5.50 Other colors may work well, but I've found the "Spanish Fly" works the best at all lakes that I've been to.

Caught one rainbow in the first 10 minutes.Around 11am the teperature rose to 100 degrees.I got this big bite that took the rod tip into the water.About 50 feet from the boat the fish survaced. At that distance it looked like a sturgon. It turned out to be a sqauwfish at about 30 inches.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went trolling with a buddy and caught our limit by 2pm. 7 kok & 3 trout. Started @ 6am. Lost about 7 other fish. Trolled around dam area in about 120 feet of water. Fish were at 40 feet in the morning and dropped to 50 feet once the sun came up. Very Hot. These were a nice grade of fish 2-3 lbs.
    City: middletown

Tips: Troll as slow as possible. Fished with flasheres & dodgers 6 foot leader and a lure. Used down riggers. Lots of snaggs closer to shore. Use a snubber and light tip action rod & keep drag set moderately. Get there early, and bring sun screen, catch fish then get off lake. To hot from 10-2 but we toughed it out and caught limit.

Report: So you say you want to drive the 10 miles of dirt road to get to one of the most secluded, beautiful empoundments in northern CA that is free of jet skiers and personal watercraft. Well the Eman wanted to go and I hadn't been there in 20 years and yes, the road is still as rough and dirty as I remember and we had to change his flat truck tire before launching. Easy to find submerged trees and working them with a Sweet Beaver (they ain't seen many of them)and jig, we immediately got on fish. That along with ripping, we must have boated over 20 in the 1-2 lb range but that wasn't what we went there for. We finally located some nice fish and landed a nice 4.3 and 3.8 largie and some nice 2-3 lb smallies. We would have had a 14+ bag for our best 5 and then decided it was time to go and you better believe that on a 10 MPH lake, your boat pushes a lot of water and we were concerned about making it back on the big motor.......but did. At the store I asked why no bass photos were posted and he said we just don't give him any so I'll be sending some his way. They do have a pic of the lake record 180 lb sturgeon! So if you don't mind a little dust on boat, truck and all your gear, keep your boat cover on and have a nice pressure washer ready upon getting home. It was a beautiful day with no other boats and the lake is still as picture perfect as I remember and lots of nice fish. I will have to plan another trip next spring.
    City: Wheatland

Tips: Jigs and beavers were the ticket. We were using a brown/orange 3/8 oz jig and the effective beaver was a darker one, not lighter colors like pumpkin seed. This time of year, stick close to the submerged trees in 20-30 and shake the crap out of it and they will munch it.

Report: Yeah the road in and out does suck but once there the fishing is on. I was camping there about a month ago. Caught two trout and About 6 nice bass in about 5 hrs first day and next day was just as good. The mouth was the best for bass because the wind really picked up on the lake couldnt stay still and there wasnt a whole lot of structure on lake, but mouth had a ton. Jigs and Senkos dark colors worked even for the trout caught two trout on senkos.

The fishin was great as always. Unfortunatly the road in is not gettin any better. Road in and out really sucks so best idea is to stay a couple days I have been here several times and the fishin has been great everytime..........

    Water Temp: 57-59

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Started fishing at 11:00am on Saturday, weather was stiff breezes, mostly overcast with showers, about 55 degrees. Don't know what the fish were doing prior to this nasty cold front, but they seemed to be in early prespawn. Got the pattern around 3:00 and caught 8 LMB, 1-3 lbs, plus 4 SMB around 2 lbs, before sundown. LMB were sluggish, just begining to come up into coves. Warmer water, just 1 or 2 degrees in the canyons, made the difference. Both LMB and SMB were in 2-10 feet, mostly off of moderate slopes along sides of coves. Slow presentation of senkos and tubes did the trick. Jerking the senkos like sluggos got the smallies in the evening. On Sunday, fished 10:00am - 2:00pm, catching only 2 LMB, one dink, one 4 lbs. Was raining steadily and windy, so tossed it in early.
    City: Cupertino

Tips: Sun comes out tomorrow for a long stretch, so my tactics this weekend will be history. Wait until May 1, then fish this lake for Largemouth in prespawn.

    Water Temp: 75

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I don't know why this lake gets so much negative attention. It was my irst time ishing this lake. Yes it is a long, dirty drive to get there. In my experence the hard to get to lakes are the best. And the 10mph speed limit keeps the jet skis and water skiers away. We did not ish or bass but we did catch plenty o kokanee and trout to make it worth another trip. The irst kok was 19inchs. Not bad or a kokanee. All o are ish were over 15 inchs. The 2 o us caught 3 koks and 3 trout in 4 hrs. We did lose a ew others. But it was a great day.
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Kokanee bugs tipped with white corn or the koks. Wedding rings tipped with a single wormwill catch both trout and koks. Use a downrigger to get down to 50-60 eet. Troll at 1-2mph. Watch or trees on the bottom. I did lose one cannon ball and lure.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the whole lake and ound many good bassin spots. Fished the coves, but most o the bass seemed to hit o o points. The numerous deadheads provided good action on the 2# bass range. Was looking or the hog all day, but never got one over 2.5 #. My buddy had a seven+ # on but lost it at the boat. Though the weather was tough and the water colder than we thought the water stayed gin and the ishing wasn't bad. At night went out or the lunker cats lurking in the res., but only got one skwa ish to bit the blood power nugs.
    City: Bayside

Tips: Caught ish on everything but top-water. Had my best luck on white spinner baits with live ire tailed newt trailers. The bass can't get enough o these sot bodied tasty creatures. The trick is knowing where to id them. This bait is guaraunteed a bass i thrown i the right cover. Also caught ish on ten inch power worms, jigs with pork trailers, and various other baits.
