Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: My dad and I ished the reservoir today rom 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. I split shotted 4" inesse worms today, which generally produce pretty well this time o year, but came up with nothing. I didn't notice any cruising ish or any ish activity really other than bluegill, yellow perch, and green sunish. Trout are still being caught on nightcrawlers, you just have to be really deep right now. I'll try again tomorrow.
    City: Clayton

Tips: Do your best to imitate natural orage such as crayish, yellow perch, rainbow trout, etc and use a slow presentation. I that doesn't work, ish the Delta!

    Water Temp: 78

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: My riend and I went to laayette and went to get two dozen nightcrawlers at about 3:30. Then went to the other side and stopped at the secret dock on the let which has a little table on it. Since the clarity was so great we did sight ishing or bluegill. At irst we didn't catch much because the worm was too big (hint,#1). But when we cut it down to a quarter inch the little blugill began to bite like crazy. Saw a big bass about 3 or 4 pounds! By the end o the day which was about 8:45 we had racked up about 90 bluegill and yellow perch and baby bass. No big bass. We released all the ish that lived and the ones that were going to die we ed to a nearby heron. It was one o my best ishing days.
    City: Orinda

Tips: Try to go when it is not windy.

    Water Temp: 79-81 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went out about 11:30 today. I started out ishing in the south end and spotted about an 8 pound cruiser. I grabbed a 4" Husky jerk in the trout pattern and made a ew casts. It was amused and came over to it, only to lose interest and continue its cruise. I also hooked another bass I'd guess to be only about a pound or so as I pitched a bit in the tulles. It managed to get o, but not beore it ripped the legs o o my brush hog. Later I ound some large humps o vegetation in the east cove and made some casts with a Shad Rap RS in the perch pattern. I got one bass that looked to be about 3 and 1/2 pounds to ollow it very closely to the boat, only to swim back to the depths. Three close encounters and nothing to show or it. Oh well. I guess my luck ran a little thin today. I talked with another guy who said he didn't see anything out there. The water was a good temperature and most o the ish I encountered were active. I lipped and pitched around with a Baby Brush Hog quite a bit but only got that one ish I mentioned to hit.
    City: Pleasant Hill

Tips: I've heard and experienced that perch patterned baits can be productive. I think those big humps in the east cove are a good bet, along o course with the weed edges. Most o these are in about 10 to 15 eet o water, so a deep diving crank in a good pattern is a good thing to ish as you arrive to each new location.

    Water Temp: 65 - 70 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I went out Sunday, 4/29/01. I haven't been on the lake or a while so I just spent most o my time cruising around and making some casts. Later in the aternoon I went back into the East cove and ound some better ishing. I made casts to quite a ew ish in the 2 to 4 pound range, most o which were airly shallow and visible. I didn't have any problem getting there attention, it was just a matter o convincing them to bite as they hovered inches below my bait. I through a spinnerbait and various plastics, and my trusty Castaic crayish to a ew ish that were on a sand bank, but still nothing. I did manage about a 6 inch bass slit shotting a 4 inch worm, but I don't think that counts, lol. From what I can tell, the bass have not spawned yet, although I may be wrong. The water temperature was in the high 60's the whole time. I'll be out again in another week or two, I should have some better "luck" now that I know what to expect.
    City: Pleasant Hill

Tips: 4" worms are a given. Any conditions, any time, there the thing to have. I got more attention with that than with anything else. I'll have more advice when I have more ish.

Report: I ished Harry's cove most o the day split shotting and drop shooting 4 inch worms and tubes. I also used a Rapala Down Deep Rattlin' Fat Rap. Nothing produced ish. From what I could tell no one else was catching anything accept the occasional trout, I'd say that only two or three o those were caught today. I you want more lake reports and inormation about East Bay lakes, eel ree to visit my web site at BGBAITS.COM.

Tips: Split shotting and drop shooting are probably your best bets. 4 inch worms are a good bet.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I have read a lot o reports o anglers who have come upempty handed with big bass, although everyone sees themhanging around at the boat docks. My riend and I do verywell in the summer months ree weighting worms and dartingthem along the surace. In order to catch these pickyish(5-10 pounders) try using Castaic yellow perch.People say that yellow perch are pests at Laayette, butI see them as just the opposite. I see them a a stable oodsupply or the largemouth bass there. They are easier orthe bass to catch because they are slender, unlike thebluegill there. I have landed bass up to eleven poundsduring the late hours o the day(6:00pm-7:30). Think aboutit. How many times have you landed a yellow perch and seena bass ollow it to the boat? It is tempting to use itas bait but that is unortuately illegal there. The big bass congregate around the baot dock duringall months o the year. Try the Castaic Yellow perchand see i you have any luck. Laayette has the healthiestpopulation o bass in the bay, but the are all REALLY smart.GOOD LUCK! Gone ishin'NOTE: I you catch a big one, let it go and take a picture so thepopulation stays healthy. I your going to keep your ishmake sure you dont keep them during pre spawn and spawn toensure a uture poulation.

    Water Temp: cold

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Sunny and cool, absolutly no wind and not a single ish to be seen or caught anywhere on the lake. I talked to several people and nothing! I walked about hal the lake and didn't even see any bait ish. better luck next time!
    City: Pleasant Hill, CA

Tips: I generaly do well here on spinnerbaits, Jigs, and 6-10in black worms. AS or the question on those giant cruising bass, the only thing I can get them to hit is the 9in castaic trout. Not even the 12in basstrix gets there attention. I have caught a 3.5 and 5.8 on the original castaic trout.

Report: only ished 2 hours but caught 5 bass all keepers and 4 trout all by split shotting 4 and a hal inche inesse worms. the biggest bass was a good 3 and a hal to 4 pounder, but most were 1 to 2 pounds. the trout i caught really surprised me, to catch 4 on a plastic worm is something i have never heard o. but split shotting worms and carolina rigging grubs is the way to go. i heard the topwater bite is decent in the morning and evening, just use small topwater plugs like little poppers. please catch and release
    City: Moraga

Tips: the key is to ish deep. the little ones are shallow but the good quality ish are deep, deep is the ticket. rocky bottoms are the best. good luck
