Report: Ive been out here 9 or 10 times, but never really have fished for bass. This last trip, we decided to get a quick couple of trout, then fish for bass. After getting the trout, we entered a small cove on the east side of the lake. This cove had 2 large rocky walls and a stretch of weedbeds. We trolled by the wweedbed with a 4 inch swinbait for first pass and my dad nailed a huge largemouth! It weighed out at 5.3lbs on our digital scale. Released her, and trolled by again. Second pass, we caught another fish! This one weighed 4.12. We thought we'd catch em all day at that spot but thatb was it. So we got out of there and fished the rocky walls. I had a nice 1 up to the boat but it got off. Went down by sunken trees and caught 2. One was 1.21lbs the other was 2.58lbs. went by the rock wall and caught 1 more. It weighed 2.73lbs. All fish were caught with storm swimbaits ranging from 2 inches, to 4 inches.

VERY GOOD FISHING. Only fished for 4.5 hours. My dad and i are trout fisherman, so I would think that a bass fisherman could have a field day out here!
    City: San Francisco

Tips: Fish by rocky points and walls, sunken trees, and weedbeds. This is where we had such great luck. I hear peninsula cove is 1 of the best bass spots in the lake.

    Water Temp: mid 60's

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: My dad and I went out on my day off and had a great day fishing mainly for trout. We rented a boat and were on the water at 8:00 am. Within 10 minutes, we caught a 22 inch salmon trolling a kastmaster. Rest of the day was very productive with 3 trout caught and 4 bass. All trout were caught on kastmasters. 3 bass were also caught on kastmasters, and the 4th was caught on a night crawler. Bass were 13-16 inches. Threw 3 bass back, kept 1. Keeper bass was 16 inches and 2.5 pounds. We mainly fished the upper east shore but tried the sunken oak cove and surprisingly caught nothing there, I think we fished it wrong. Trout weighed 2.1,2.6, and 2.8lbs. Salmon weighed 3.4 lbs. Great lake, Big fish, very little fishing pressure, and a lot of different gamefish species.
    City: San Mateo

Tips: Kastmasters catch big trout and big Bass! Cant say how the bass bite on plastic worms or spinner baits, never caught any on them. Upper eastern shore is good. Try the Sunken OAk cove too, it provides sum of the only tree cover in the entire lake, Bass have gotta be hiding in there.

Report: Just wanted to reply to comment posted by "Mark" regarding recent big fish caught at this lake. I fish local lakes 3-4 days a week when not at work and catch a lot of big Bass(3 this year over 10 lbs.) I carry a scale and camera every time out. At Los Vaqueros, I hike a couple miles away from other bank fishermen to reach my spots and am not willing to risk killing these big Bass in order to prove myself. It would be nice to have my photo posted at the marina, but I am satisfied having my extensive photo album with all of the large bass I have caught locally.
    City: Antioch

Tips: Get away from the normal foot traffic and hike in to the areas that see little pressure. You will likely see other great sights as well. My son and I hiked 3 miles in on the dam side of lake and watched an Eagle swooping on trout at the surface in a little cove. This is a beatiful lake with lots to see if you are willing to make the hike. GOOD FISHING!

Tips: I did better on wind beaten rocky banks. Look for shade and give em hell.

Report: Took my 9 yr.old son out today for a while...he skunked me.Obviously shared too much of my Bass fishing info with him.He landed a 6 lb. 5 oz. and a 4 lb. 13. oz both on spinnerbaits.Same flats I landed a 9 lb. a week ago. These fish a fat with eggs. My son is making me very proud...love to see young kids taking an interest in throwing jigs and spinnerbaits rather than just dunkin' bait for trout.
    City: Antioch

Tips: Bass are hangin on ledges just bordering flats...ready to spawn.Try jerk baits and sl owly crawling spinnerbaits along ledges.I've just been informed we need to throw carolina rigged lizzards next time out. This kid reads too many of my magazines! Best of luck!

Report: Went out to try for Bass and actually did great. Caught three good fish....a 2 lb, 4 lb, and 9.2 lbs. I believe this beets the record, however, I hiked in 3 miles from parking lot at marina side and would have killed her to take to have her pic taken. I did get pics w/ cell phone and she measured 26" with a belly that hung 10" from her back....full of eggs. These fish are starting to move shallow. All caught on swim baits.
    City: Antioch

Tips: Fish the edges of flats next to drop offs. Lost one fish shallow on a lipless lucky craft crank bait...threw the hook when she jumped. Guy at the marina said the bass fishing hadn't started to pick up yet. I guess this is an untapped resource as I would say the fishing was great. Saw a few bruisers cruising the shallows.

Report: I fished the rock wall for a few hours today. Started out with a Luhr Jensen texas red colored crankbait...nothing. Then switched to a Lucky Craft LVR-D7 Lipless crank in aurora black...nothing. I then dropshotted 6" Roboworm's in various colors like Margarita Mutilator etc. Nothing. Than, tried texas rigging a Watermelon/Red Yamamoto 5" Super Grub...nothing. I saw two bass cruising, 5 feet from shore, swimming real fast, probably about 5 to 6 pounds each. Due to my lack of success at that point, and noticing the cruisers, I tried fishing weightless Roboworms instead...nothing.
    City: clayton

Tips: The only bass I saw all day looked like big post-spawn female cruisers, not interested in much. Tough fishing.

Report: Hey good to see that they put this lake on here. As the current Largemouth Record Bass holder let me tell you a little about the lake. O.K. so I got lucky and caught a 6lb Bass there in December. I have fished the lake 2 times for Bass from a boat and 2 times from shore so I am no authority. Sorry to see that Sturgeon Kid got hosed on the boat rental. As far as the lake it is good sized with not much shore structure. This lake is packed with trout so the Bassin should get good soon. I cruised it with my portable fish finder and found some great underwater structure in places. I tried to find as much info as I could about the lake before I went for the first time. Not much info out there. I did read that when they filled it there were 9 farm ponds that were absorbed. Rumor has it that they shocked the ponds prior to filling and there were largemouth in some up to 9lbs! SO maybe there is a huge one in here already. The lake has great potential and gets very little fishing pressure. Half the lake has no shore access and you can only put rental boats on the lake. This along with the insane boat rental prices will keep pressure on the lake low. If you want any more info or have some to share drop me an email.

Report: Well, we went here to check out the new lake and rent out one o their boats or the day and get out and do some bassin'. We got there and they said that a big wind storm had come through the other night and totally messed up their boat docks and thrown their boats all over the place, so they weren't renting them out that day. We were pretty disappointed by that, but we decided to go and try and do some bassin' rom shore. Didn't get one hit all day! We were there or a good 6 hours too. This lake reminds me o a lake I ish up in Utah or bass, and I'm almost positive that I could've caught bass i'n we had a boat. However, we just couldn't ind 'em anywhere rom shore. So...i you don't have a boat...GOOD LUCK!!
