Report: Fished Mather for a few hours today and was pleasantly suprised to see a bunch of bucks along the banks! First I threw a frog no takers, went to one of my hand poured beavers in a golded color and nailed a 2.5lb off a bed walked around teh back side of the lake and fished the frog some more 2 small blow ups and one 4-6lb which came all the way up to the bank and took off. Walked all the way back around the back and front again got 4 more fish on the beaver in a gold color. Fished a small swimbait had some fish wack it could no hook one! All fish came on the beaver about 3.5 hours for 5 fish all 2lbs or better.
    City: Sacto.

Tips: Don't spend to much time with the frog if there not hitting it. And don't spend too much time sight fishing bed fish because most of them have alredy been cought. Bring a boat or tube

    Water Temp: ???

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out for a few hours this afternoon in a canoe. Partner caught 3 Largemouth on weightless senkos. First two came in the first 10 minutes. Thought it was on. Pretty slow after that. Threw frogs and buzzbaits but no takers. No fish went for the sweet beaver. Frogs will turn on as soon as it heats up. Nasty cold wind showed up around 7pm so we left.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: flip senkos in the open pockets. Weedless topwaters work as well. texas rigged beavers help punch through the mats to get to the open water below.

Report: DO not waste your time at this lake.

On paper it looks very beautiful, has water running into it, lots of trees and tall grasses that look ideal for spawning bass to have millions of little babies and thrive.

    But beware !
This is very near a golfcourse and as a result the fertilizer runoff has produced a virtual weed factory that you cannot fish.
Topwaters will get stuck. Drop shots will be abosrbed by the dense "forest". A dry fly may not get snagged (iffy) but the fish would never see it.

Someone needs to whack these weeds (how?) and stop the golf course runoff.

Too bad though, a really beautiful setting.....

Report: First trip to Mather and brought the float tube. Fished from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and landed 3 and missed one other. Too windy to fish weightless so I fished mojo rigged tubes, black w/ red flake right against any decent cover. Nice place and I will be back.
    City: Roseville

Tips: Throw right against the weed mats and my strikes were when the tube dropped.
