Report: FISHED THE LAKE FOR THE FIRST TIME THURS. 4-22-99, WITH MY SON RICKAND HIS FRIEND TIM. WE WERE TURNED ON TO THE LAKE BY MY SON'S FIEND JARRET AND I AM SURE GLAD WE LISTENED TO HIM. I WANTED TO GO TO COLLINS.THE FISH ARE UP AND SPAWNING AND READY TO GET ANY INTRUDERS OFF THE NEST. WE FISHED FROM 6:00am. TO 7:30pm. THE BITE WAS INCREDIBLE, AFTER FISHING SO. CAL. LAKES FOR 35 YRS. I CAN HONESTLY SAY THIS WAS THE BEST DAY I HAVE EVER HAD, ESPECIALLY SINCE I WAS WITH MY SON. WE LANDED AND RELEASED39 NICE BASS ON THE DAY. THE MAJORITY OF THE FISH WERE SLOT SIZE, BUT WE DID FIND 5 NICE FISH TO 4 LBS.
    City: Sylmar

Tips: THE FISH WERE HITTING SLOWLY WORKED PLASTIC WORMS IN 5-14' OF WATER SURROUNDED BY TREES IN THE SHALLOWS. I HAD THE BEST ACTION WITH 6" PUMPKIN SEED CURLYTAIL POWER BAIT WORMS. MY SON RICK AND HIS FRIEND TIM, WORKED PURPLE WORMS WITH VERY GOOD RESULTS. THE METHOD, WE FOUND, WAS TO WORK THE BAIT VERY SLOWLY COMING AWAY FROM THE TREES OUT TO DEEPER WATER. IN THE EVENING, WE FOUND LARGER FISH ON ROCKY SECONDARY POINTS, BUT THE CHOICE OF BAIT NEVER CHANGED.

Report: FISHED OROVILLE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A WHILE, SINCE I WAS OUT OF TOWN! 0NLY HAD 7 FISH FROM8:30 TO 3PM, BUT THEY WERE AL GOOD FISH(1-18 1/2IN, 3-17IN, 2-16IN, & 1-15 3/4).FOUND ALL FISH IN 15 TO 20 FT OF WATER STAGING JUST OFF OF SHALLOW WATER AREAS TOWARDS THE BACK OFSELECT COVES. FOUND LOTS OF SCHOOLED UP FISH OFF OF POINTS (20-35FT), ALSO SEEMING TO STAGE, BUT WASUNSUCCESFUL. ALL FISH WERE CAUGHT ON AN OXBLOOD MAGIC WORM(4.5IN) WITH A CAROLINA RIG(BRASS ANDGLASS- 18IN LEADER ON 12PD STREN CLEAR SUPERTOUGH LINE).HAD 1 FISH ON A ZIPPER WORM(BHUDDA BAITS). GOOD LUCK IF THE WATER EVER WARMS UP THIS SPRING, OR ISIT A FOREVER WINTER,THEIR SHOULD BE SOME REAL QUALITY FISH THIS YEAR!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: THE FISH ARE STAGING FOR THE SPAWN, BUT THE WEATHER/COOL WATER AND THE EXTRA/NEW MOON IN MARCHMAY HAVE THE FISH A LITTLE CONFUSED. IT WOULD LOOK OUTSIDE AND WORK IN SHALLOW.I HAD LITTLE SUCCESS WITH A RIP BITE AS OF YET.

Report: The Rip bite is on, especially in the morning. I used aBlack/blue/silver rip bait to catch 3 good ish to 17" beore 7. My partnerFrank Souza and I tossed brown jigs and worms the rest o the day and caughtanother 7-8 ish. Fish seem to be oriented to points in most parts o the lake. Hit enough points and you will ind them.
    City: Marysville

Tips: Rip baits, brown jigs and worms on points.

    Water Temp: 48

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Oroville Sunday in very overcast weather. Caught rip(silver/black Rogue), spinnerbait (white/white) and crankbait (crawdad colorRattlin Rap) ish or the irst hour on shallow, lat points. Then, switched toplastics and jigs or the rest o the day although I continued to throw reactionbaits occasionally but got no takers. All worm ish came in 15-18 eet on sideso long lat points. Threw Caliornia Custom Worm 6 inch in Summer Moss Brown.Caught 13 or 14 ish - many just over the slot. Weighed 13lbs 9 oz at the endo the day anchored by the irst ish o the day a 2# 11oz smallie.
    City: Fair Oaks

Tips: 1. Fish are in prespawn staging mode. Find one, you're one a bunch. Lookor good spawning lats and then ind the nearest drop o leading to deepwater. They will be stacked up on that edge. Then, they move up and downduring the day based on light conditions and water temperature.2. For numbers o smaller ish, copy the local trend. Use baits that are knownlocally to produce. Right now that seems to be a 6" worm called a spot spankerand another worm that escapes me. But, or bigger ish, go against the curenttrend and throw jigs or brown/green worms. Fish shallow to deep until you indthem.3. Because o all the ish released at the spillway, the points adjacent to thatarea are producing huge numbers o typical tournament size ish.
