    Water Temp: COLD!!!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Skunked! From my kickboat, lipped the shoreline with jigs & sot plastics (Senko's included); tossed my 9" MS SLammer trout plug around some -- maybe TOO much, given the murky water! (I think the 'Slammer' might be more suited to clearer waters). A couple times when I was lippin', I thought I had something on, but as I pulled through it, I came up empty. Not sure i that was a ish getting o, or snagging a branch or some weeds or whatever. Water was cold and muddy, although the weather was warm & Spring-like. I had igured the string o warm temperatures the past ew days might kick 'em into gear this weekend, but there wasn't much going on. One other tuber said he had caught a couple on Senkos, but nothing to write home about.

Check water temps where you're ishing it varies quite a bit. Remember to post your reports , no matter how it went. Catch and Release! Don't deplete the rescource.

    Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got to Pinto about 6:30AM. Fished all around the lake got a ew strikes but that was it. I was jiggin a Black/Blue jig with a junebug grub trailer. ( I read in an article somewhere that it worked better than a jig and pig...NOT!)Talked to two guys who got 5 ish , one was eight pounds! Full o eggs. They were using jig and pig. Tight into shoreline cover , SLOW! This lake should be working well in a couple o weeks. Don't orget to post your reports regardless o how the day was...
    City: Aptos

Tips: Black/Blue jig with dark colored pig , pitch into shoreline cover , tight , most strikes on the drop , i not , let'ersit on the bottom or a ew seconds and then jig real slow , pause , and jig again. The guy that caught the eight pounder gave me this tip.

Report: The Pajaro Valley Bass Club held their August tournament at Pinto Lake in Watsonville. The ishing was tough except or new member Mike Gutierrez who was culling by 8am. He weighed in a 14.50 limit with a nice 4# kicker. Second place was distant 6.74. As our BassNTube bretheren have reported in the past lippin the deep dark jungle was the name o the game and jigs were the hot lure today. The ish seemed to be hitting the jig as soon as it hit the bottom.
    City: Watsonville

Tips: Dark colored jigs especially around wood cover and there is plenty o this at Pinto.

    Water Temp: Low 60's

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: At the 3rd Bass-n-Tubes tourney o the year, 'tough' would be a good description o our day-- two decent limits and a 5-1/2lb. 'Big Fish' notwithstanding! Alot o the ish were caught early in the day. Grey skies andmoderate winds stuck around right uptil weigh-in time, when it cleared up a bit. Tim Crane won with a 16+ lb. bag, topped with a couplenice at ones over 4 lbs.John Lake got second with a limit o 11+. It ell o to single digits ater that. 'Dana' (senior)got 'Big Fish,' with that 5-1/2 lb'er.(We weigh to the nearest hundredth; I just didn't bring home the actual results). I got SKUNKED,although I wasn't the onlyone. It's a pretty small lake, & lippin' is basically how you have to approach it -- lots oshoreline tules, brush & wood. Acouple o guys were catching 'em on shallow cranks & spinnerbaits, too, but it always came back tothe lippin'. With limitedshoreline available, & a bunch o guys lined up, one ater the other to hit the same brush over &over, it really ell to the expert*lipmeisters* to either get it where it had to go, or put it to 'em just right. Everyone wasthrowing reapers and brush hogs (big &baby), & maybe a craw/worm or two. I threw a pig-n-jig or awhile, to no avail (obviously). Thislake can be pretty good -- lastAugust, John broke the BnT 5-ish weigh-in record here, at 17+ lbs.! Oh, well, maybe when we comeback in July, things'll beback up to those better numbers. Next month (May 16th) is Lake Sonoma -- give John a call @408-263-6174 i you want tojoin us! Some o the guys rom the Sonoma County Belly Boat Bass Club are apparently planning onjoining us, too, so the prizepool oughtta be juicier than normal ($25 a head). Give us a try! (Check out our website: http://members.xoom.com/je_sxx/ )
    City: San Jose

Tips: Year 'round @ Pinto: lippin' sot plastics deep into the ample shoreline cover. Reapers &Brush Hogs work especially well.
