Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: This is a really hard report to submit. This is the first time in 15 years I was skunked at San Antonio in January. My friend and I decided to get to the lake later in the morning because of the cold. We arived at 10:00am and started right across from south shore. We fished from 0' to 45' using jigs and rip baits and crainkbaits. Nothing . We moved down the lake towards the dam and hit several good points (at least they have been for the last 15 years) Finaly I got bit on a jig but missed it. After about 20 min. My friend hooked up with the only fish of the day a 2.5lb large mouth on a jig in about 15' off the side of a point. That was it. We got off the water at 4:00PM. How humiliating. My friend asked me to show him the lake because I usully do well here in January. well, thats that. I have to wait till next year to redeem myself.

    Water Temp: 74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: North end of lake is almost in full blown algae bloom. Lake is very, very full - lots of benches and tables submerged. Weeds are starting to reach the surface of the water in the coves. Lots and lots of wakeboarders and skiers. Fished the lake for the first time ever, should have just kept going to Naci. Fished from 7AM to 1PM. Caught 4 fish total, 2 keepers. 3 were smallies and 1 was a LM.
    City: Monterey

Tips: Got the short smallies on a jerkbait. The keepers both came on dropshot roboworms on main lake points and adjacent cliffs in 15 feet of water. If I were going again, I'd target mainly smallmouth. The keeper smallie went 2.2lbs and fought like a 5lb largemouth - fun stuff on light line and a spinning rod.

    Water Temp: 58 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Pre fished San Antonio today. Mostly sunny after about 3 days of rain. Foggy in the morning but cleared off about 9:00. Fish are moving up with the males making a few beds but are not locked on yet. I had 12 keepers with my best 5 going about 13 lbs. The bigger females were not to be found yet. There was alot of activity on the lowrance in about 20 feet of water but no takers. This should get real good in a couple weeks as the water warms and we get a stable, clear weather pattern.
    City: Paso Robles

Tips: When going down a bank fishing for bass that are moving up, make long casts out in front of the boat next to cover. A 3/8 oz jig with a YUM twin tail trailer has a slow fall, scent in the plastic trailer and got all the bigger fish.

Report: Launched out of the north shore and saw millions of shad loaded at the docks. Fished the shallows at north end of lake. threw cranks, spinnerbaits, senkos and dropshotted robos but nothing. Headed to south end and spooned in ~50-75' and caught 7 stripers to 28lbs biggest going 6.5lbs.Also caught one small mouth spooning ~ 2lbs.

Tips: Spooning deep, using blue/chrome castmasters, and shad colred spoons. Anyone have a tip on what the blacks are hitting on?

    Water Temp: Hot--just like

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Who else is crazy enough to camp at San Anton' over the Labor Day wknd? I'm gonna be there--probably at South Shore near Harris Creek. I'll be float tube fishing unless I can talk my way onto someone's boat. I've been there plenty of times with relatively good success. Drop me a line if you're gonna be down there and would like to do a little bassin. I also plan on doing some late-night fishin for cats with the aid of adult beverages.
I'll post results when I return.

Tips: TIP #1: Don't throw rocks or hit golf balls at too-close-to-shore-running jet skiers. They are people too...albiet not smart people.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: There was a full moon the 19th so figured hey this may be the only chance to fish to get away from lake lice.Got out on the water about 6:00pm of course still lot's of traffic.Ran down to bee rock fished jsut outside but hell it was like an ocean. Finally the sun went down the exact same time the moon came up pretty cool.First fish came on rebel wee-r 2lb.smally.Nothing for awhile so i ran back and fished the slide area and picked up 3 more smallmouth and one large all about the same size 2lb all on pop-r.Aboat 10:30 i decided to run down and fish main lake point's and noticed a boat on the other side with these two flashing light's and thought man they really want people to see them.So i kept going and thought to myself that doesnt seem right,So i went back and motered up to them and asked is everything ok?By this time the wind picked up pretty good.Well it was a couple in a bass boat and both the big motor and trolling motor took a crap.Well of course i had to tow them back to the ramp and by then it was after 11:00 so i figured i might as well pull out to.So i ended up with five fish all after dark.
    City: SALINAS

Tips: Still be careful this time of year there we jet skies out there after dark,of course they dont have running light.idiot's.

    Water Temp: warming

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Caught a few bass while camping on the South Shore, in Harris Creek. Smallmouth and largemouth both fell for 1/4 oz kastmasters and rattle traps. There is a ton of shad. Wish I had a boat! The stripers were boiling outside of the cove I camped at both nights around 8pm. But too far to cast. Also caught a fat 18 inch bullhead catfish at 1am on sardines.
    City: Marina CA

Tips: Once the boats hit the water, the rockless coves/shoreline muddies up pretty fast. This can be good and bad. Murky water heats up faster than clear water so throw quick, reaction lures through the murky areas while using slow moving plastics and cranks through the clear water.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got on the water about 7:30 nice and foggy and wanted to fish the south end of the lake since the
shallow's are closed again, thats ok with me anything to help the bass.well it's nice to know this lake we were able to get to bee rock pretty easy.started on the outside and picked up three smallmouth about 1.5# each.continued to go into bee rock and fished the large grassy flat's thought for sure they would be there "not".shot accross the other side to fish the rocky structure and right of the start we picked up a dozen again all smallmouth about 2#.gave up here went to harris creek nothing fished the slidee picked about four more same size.decided to finish the day in the northshore cove by the old ramp couught about five more.one thing intresting it was just black and full of shad unbelievable.dare i say let's go catch some striper's saturday i think so.

    Water Temp: 53-56

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: got on the water around 6:45am. WINDY!!! whitecaps, rough water, etc. Should've gone home. Fished coves to get out of the wind as much as possible. Draggin' a Reaction Innovations Flirt (hot tamale) t-rigged on a 2/0 offset roundbend hook. Hooked up on a keeper smallie about 1#. Went to the big cove at the dam end of the lake and fished a grass flat same method same bait and picked up a little better smallie. Went about 1.5 #. Had a couple follow up my worm and a Lucky Craft Pointer 100 jerkbait Nishiki color, but no takers other than the worm. Got tired of the wind and got off the water at noon.
    City: Atascadero

Tips: Saw some fish cruising the banks on that grass flat. Water temp and the unstable weather we've had makes me think at least some of the smallies haven't spawned yet. Thought maybe some of the cruising fish were males looking for a place to fan out beds. Plan on going back in a couple weeks and fishing spots that I couldn't because of too much wind.

    Water Temp: 50 - 58 F

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Water clarity still poor due to storm runoff. Lake level at ~ 55% capacity. Lots of large debris on surface near Harris. Caught one smallie on RI sweet beaver on pegged Texas rig, missed another fish on same; caught another smallie on 4" handpour Senko on darter head...that was it for the day!
    City: Bakersfield

Tips: Told by park staffer to fish "rocky" shoreline areas for smallmouth, but there aren't many good rocky areas to speak of due to low water level. One fish caught along rocky shoreline, but other was caught in shallow water on isolated submerged brush, so no real pattern.

    City: greenfield (montery county)

Tips: watch out for debris on west side of lake.from harris creek to the shallows.

Report: We had our club tourney (Gilroy BassMasters)on the lake this weekend. It was a tough bite for all of us. No limits were caught and 11 of our 18 anglers blanked. The fog stuck around till around 11 which kept most of our guys off plane and fishing unfamilar water. The guys that caught 1-2 fish were dropshotting or spider grubbin. One guy caught 2 rattletrap fish up shallow.
    City: M.H.

Tips: No real patterns. Junk fishing was the norm. Try 4 inch robo's in morning dawn or aaron magic.
Most of our fish were smallies

Report: Pre-fished on Fri and Sat for a club tourney on Sunday. Didn't get a keeper on Friday and not a bite on Sat. Tried everything. Was my 1st time here. There was another tourney Sat and just about every arewa had a boat on it. Sundays tourneys are always fishing 'used' water. Sun I started out on the East side of the lake on the cliffs and caught two, a black and a smallmouth. No reaction bite even though a lot of fish were rising to the surface. Went on main lake points and ended up culling three. Largest was a 4.65 black and 14.26 lbs total to take 1st place. Only two limits were brought in.
    City: Fresno

Tips: use a dropshot on wind blown points
