Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Well not to often do you use San Luis and calm in the same sentence but it was like glass. These condition's really hurt the reaction bite.I started below the windmill's and picked up three fish on a Jerkbait. Two were about 18" and one 26" about four pound's.Well I fished for about three more hour's and nothing but follow's but that's a good sign they are going to go off soon.Well I switched to throwing a Rat-L-Trap,silver,and picked up two more in Dinosaur Point area. Both were nice 28"fish.So then I trolled for awhile with the Rat-L-Trap from the Tunnel Island toward's the highway.I trolled for about 20 minute's.I was kind of daydreaming when I looked over and my pole was bent double.I thought I was snagged but I looked at the meter and was in 70' of water.I fought that fish for about 5 minute's and got one look at it before it came undone.BIG fish over 20 I would say.Well of course I trolled for another hour and never had a bite.
    City: Salinas

Tips: Get there as early as you can the bite wont last long.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Pretty slow.Got there at 7:00 and picked up one fish on reaction first 10 minute's.Fished another 3 hour's with reaction bait's and not one bite.Well that was enough so I fished three differant spot's I know that are good for bait fishing.Same result's....nothing not a bite.Fished another hour back around Dino Point for Largemouth and cought three about 2-1/2lbs on a black Mann's Jelly Worm Texas rigged.
    City: Salinas

Tips: Lake was just to calm which does not help the fishing here. When it's flat calm fish Striper's first but if it's not happening switch to Largemouth.

Report: Well first time here since my last report.Got a late start about 9:30 lake was like glass when I arrived and stayed like that all day.First started along the rock's where there's water on both side's of the Highway and threw Rat-L-Trap and jerkbait nothing. Then I ran back over and fished where I useually fish below the windmill's.Fished about a half hour and finally picked one up four pound's.Fished until 4:00pm and cought 8 fish all the same size 4-5 pound's all on Ghost pattern Husky Jerk.Lost two on Rat-L-Trap.
    City: Salinas

Tips: All the fish this time came on point's no other type area's produced. Also use as light of line as you can I use 10lb floro nothing bigger as this water is very clear.good luck and just stick with it right now.I would catch one about ever half hour or more

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Well have not posted a report for some time.Decided I would fish the Forebay this time. When I got there it was clear and bright up on the big lake but when I got to the Forebay it was Pea Soup,Tule fog.Went ahead and paid and when I got to the ramp I noticed the water color was bad, real brown.Well went ahead and launched and fished half an hour with reaction and said heck with this.So I pulled out and went up to the big lake.Launched at Dinosaur Point and ran and fished below the windmill's and picked up one fish 22" on Jerkbait.I noticed the fog seemed closer and you could see it roll over the Dam and about a half hour later you could not see more than a hundred feet.Very bad stuff out there.Fished reaction for another 3 hour's or so tried my deep water stuff with spoon's and bait not one bite.Oh well beat's the hell out of work.
    City: Salinas

Tips: Stay away from the Forebay until it clear's.Big lake is fine clear all over and lot's of water. And unless you know this lake be careful and if you get lost in that fog hang in there it useually clear's mid afternoon to get back in.

Report: Arrived 6:30 am, fished the North end of the Forebay and hooked three small stripers on pearl flukes. Fluke bite slowed after sunrise. Trolled blue and chrome rattle-traps at 3.8-4.0mph with the downrigger at 10-15 feet down the middle of the Forebay in front of the launch ramp. Landed 13 more small fish during the rest of the morning, none bigger than 3lbs, but a lot of fun for my first trip to the Forebay. Looking forward to going back soon.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Arrived at daylite and ran back to Portaguez and it was a little windy but fishable.Started out with a Rat-l-trap and cought 5 between 3 an 4 pound's.Then tried a Pearl white Fluke and was catching them allmost every cast. When the wind let up and the sun hit the water it just turned off.Fished other spot's with no luck. Not to often do you see this lake like glass but it also shut's down the reaction bite.So I anchored in 60' of water back toward's Dino point and dropped an Anchovie. Before I could get a Sandwich I had a fish on.I sat there and cought another dozen or so all between 4-6 pound's.All very strong and healthy fish. Each trip the lake get's higher.Only saw one boil in the afternoon and those fish were tough to catch only picked up a few.Overall the lake is fishing fantastic.
    City: Salinas

Tips: Allway's take Anchovie's so when the reaction stop's anchor in 60-80 feet drop straight down and leave your bail open fish are biting very light.

Report: Well some day's you probably should have just stayed home.Well I went after watching the weather report which only called for rain until mid morning.Well as soon as I put in at 6:30 it started raining and never stopped.I fished mainly around Dino piont area and picked up three Striper's and to Largemouth on Rat-l-trap's.

Not sure where this topwater bite they keep claiming is going on.The lake came up about 10' since last Saturday and of course this morning,Sunday it's beautiful. As I sit here and watch the FLW tournament really make's me want to go again. What the heck wife's in Bakersfield
    City: SALINAS

Tips: I think the fish are still out in the deeper water you may be better off bait fishing for now in 50' to 100'.

Report: Well I have been on the sideline lately but finally got on the water.Well I arrived about 6:30am and to my suprise the lake was extremly low.You have to use one of the secondary ramp's now the main one is way out of the water.

And it was extremly windy even for here. The lake probably should not have been open but went ahead and launched.I tried to fish reaction bait's but it was just to windy i would say at least 30mph.Never had a bite and fished until 11:00.
    City: Salinas

Tips: Call 1-800-805-4805 before you go here to get the wind condition.
