Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I turned forty on this day and decided to give this lake one more try before winter. It drizzled all day, and when I arrived @ the lake around 1:30 there wasn't a soul around. Naturally I fished hard, nothing. Then around 6ish San Pablo's staff yelled 10 minutes till closing. On my last cast just as I was about to go .....Bam it hit, just as my lure was almost fully retrieved. I was careful not to reel in too fast and as the bass gave up the fight when I saw the size as it was on its side...... this was the biggest bass I had ever personally seen let alone caught. Anyways I ran as fast as I could yelling at the store-guy to re-open the store and weigh this catch of my life time....Of course he said no, after much begging also letting him know that it was my birthday...my 40th, he did, and this baby was 14 lbs 8oz. Considering I have gotten ridiculed and skunked many times by my competing friends, this was the fish of a life time. I got the last laugh..... thank Jesus!!!

Report: Launched at Black Pt. around 7am. Fished until Mr. Fish and Game docked along side (1pm) to cite us for not knowing the Delta/Bay required a stamp. Stamps for everything these days. California sucks. Got that off my chest. Anyway, not much luck today. 2 king fish, 1 stiper (15"), 1 bat ray (small-med.) Muddy waters due to big tides. Last week, clear waters - great fishing!
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Pick up 1/2 pound of shrimp from bait store ($8) across from launch (marina). Anchov's or herrin ok. Nothing like the shrump though!

Within an hour I caught a 5lb 3oz, 23" large mouth with a 7" senko in black color with blue specks. best day I've had at the damm. my buddy missed a couple nice hits on a big Tube and a 7" senko same color I used.

Switch to a finnese worm on a splitshot rig got a bout 6, 1lb bass, 1 2.2lb bass, and a 3lb bass. Not a bad day considering how low the lake is and how much junk is in the water.

Report: Well Jim T here are a few tips for you figure heck the lake will be gone in a few months anyways. 4" Kalin Hand poured green weenie/black pepper flake worm on 1/0 EWG light wire hook on 8lb mono splitshotted just kills em. I have never done well here on the drop shot most of my fish come on --SLOW-- draggin those Kalin worms. Also have great luck on RI Dominator worms here in watermelon/ black flake with the tail dipped in spike it. Go to the windy banks and throw flukes. This lake is tough and I would say I average 5+ fish a visit(usually 1-4lb). Use the softest plastics you can find here. Good Luck. Oh yea bring some swimbaits.

Report: Second time at this place...can't seem to break the largemouth code. Fished midday using mostly plastics with tiny success. Managed just one dink on a drop shot (California Rig?) I've read enough to know that getting a bite at SP can be tough but quality fish are definitely there. Thus, I will return...hopefully armed with new tips from you.

Tips: I'm asking...please share a few nuggets pertinent to SP. Big thanks!
