Report: For those who may have remembered Jerry's postings a few years back,. He passed on May 6th. Jerry loved Shasta Lake and enjoyed sharing his knowledge. At the drop of a hat he would often drop what he was doing to show other fisherman around. He is missed by his family and friends.

Tips: Toss a line and catch a big one next time you are out there.

    Water Temp: 59-62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Started out at Jones Valley Ramp about 6:30am. Threw out trolling lines as we left the dock and only 5 mins in, the wind came up to where white caps were splashing over the front of the boat. Pulled in our lines and had a small 15 inch trout on one pole (could tell there was a fish on because of the waves). Ran slowly and roughly across the lake up into the Squaw Arm and ducked into a cove. Threw rubber worms, lizards and brush-hogs with a bite on every cast. Small spots were agressive but only one 2 lb caught. Was fun but couldn't stand the wind. Left around noon in discust.

    Water Temp: 48.5 - 50.3

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: If that was the Jerry posting from past years, good to hear from you. It would be great to see a post from you again on the Shasta happenings.

Fished 3-27 thru 3-31. We got 8" of rain and hail, lake rose 11 ft while we were on it. Some crazy winds like I have not seen on the lake before, waterspouts and all. We found fish in the Pit mostly on long shallow points darterhead worms 4-6" of almost any color, 10 to 45 ft. The evening bite was hot on worms with brite chartreuse tails steep rock rite at the bank. We moved up the Mcloud and got on fish on the same long points but also foudn fish in "any" incoming water. slow rolling white spinnerbaits took the bigger fish. Found my best fishing at Shasta ever for numbers and quality mid day in a river channel, grassy sloping points toward running water. 2 of us caught over 60 fish in 4 hours 30 of them between 2 and 3 lbs. what a final day. Nothing at this lake is ever the same for me.
    City: California Delta

Tips: Typical worms. oxblood, aarons magic, green weinies, salt and pepper, white blades. All slow.

    Water Temp: 47 - 50

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the Squaw Creek arm with some friends from 3/19 - 3/22 with mixed results. Drop shotting worked best during the day and a for the evening a work a crank bait at lake points in water 0-30' deep. We didn't catch numbers but fish were of good quality.
    City: Morgan Hill

Tips: Keep moving to find fish. The drop shot bite was very lite and it seemed as though the fish were loading up on the drop shot not much of a tap tap type bite. Fish were spitting up minnows and craw fish.

    Water Temp: 49 to 53

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The bass fishing has been getting better and with the recent weather changes. The most productive tactics have been Dartheaded worms in Mojave Oxblood and hologram shad and Nail weighted Senkos in Green Pumpkin, Cinnamon w/ Black flake, Natural Shad and Baby Bass as well as tubes in mud pie and old ugly fished from 15 to 40 feet deep. Lots of keeper size fish are being caught and the bigger fish are starting to show in their normal pre spawn pattern. Those throwing Jerkbaits and White spinnerbaits with white double willow blades or Chartreuse spinnerbaits with gold blades in the backs of coves with flowing water have been reporting successful days.

    Water Temp: 50-51

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the 7th and 8th with good success, we caught fish anywhere from 10 to 65ft deep with the best concentration and size in the 30 to 40ft range. Most bites where very subtle, just pressure bites, but some fish would nail it. All fish caught on 4.5 to 6 inch green pumpkin w/blk & purple flake finesse worms, shakey head. Tried throwing blades and jerkbaits on windblown points and banks with no luck.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Deep creek channels in the arms of big spawning coves is where the best concentration of where. Found fish to be very spread out on the main bodies of water. There was a good night bite on the shadow side of banks due to the bright moon, all fish caught on drop shot rig at night.

    Water Temp: 49 to 51

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The bass fishing continues to be hit and miss. Hopefully the weather we are getting this week changes things up a little. The most productive tactics have still been Dropshotting, Dartheaded worms in Mojave Oxblood and Nail weighted Senkos in Green Pumpkin, Cinnamon w/ Black flake, Natural Shad and Baby Bass. Lots of keeper size fish are being caught and a few occasional 3 pounders. Those throwing Jerkbaits and White spinnerbaits with white double willow blades on windy banks have had some success covering lots of water.

We realize our reports are starting to become a little redundant, It's the fish not us, We promise :) :) :)

Water Temp: mid 50's / low

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Shasta Lake is 51' feet down. Surface temps are from the mid 50's in the morning to the low 60's in the afternoon. If you're into trout fishing right now is the time to go, they are up chasing the shad schools. Spoons and small shad imitating plugs have been the ticket for trout limits. The bass fishing is still a little hit and miss. there have been some top water, ripbait and spinnerbait fish in the mornings and evenings but most of the fish being caught thoughout the day have been a little deeper on dropshot rigs and dartheaded worms

    Water Temp: 71.9

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Well, I went out for a weekend of fishing on Shasta and its been a few years. I thought that I would have no problem at least spooning a few fish as I have in the past this time of year. I went in search of bait in the Sac and when I found my first big ball off a point in about 45ft of water I droped my spoon. First drop, Fish On! Cast after cast the same thing ( Fish On). The only problem was that it wasn't a bait ball it was a ball of 6inch spots. Everywere I went these little dudes would be stuck to my hook. I threw a spook and they attacked it like Piranhas. Long story short I only caught three fish that went.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: the lake is 42 ft down, mid 70's temps, water very clear in most areas, some small fish being caught, nothing much with the 2+ lb fish, most cannot get a limit, need some cooler weather, temps in high 90's most days, baliey cove will be out of the water in a week or so, go up into the upper arms and look for cooler water, ramps are pretty mcuh deserted these days, mid lake humps producing best with main lake points coming in a close second.

    Water Temp: 78

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I wish we had cought more fish but just been out there made it all worth it. Saw some bald eagles and some beatiful spots and managed to catch a few keepers (biggest 2 1/2 LB). What worked the best was brown with red flakes senkos and clear with different color flakes, also white spinner bait and salt n' pepa grubs. Senkos worked the best....for me.
    City: South San Francisco

Tips: Early morning bite before all the noise. Try submerged trees and points. Most bites for senkos were on the fall. Have fun, I can't wait to go back.
