Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: good fishing in full sun on a 90 degree day. Not much at first using "yellow swimbait" with a float. Later used "wacky bait", Yamamoto 5" worm with "Hogy Lure" hooked mid worm. Dragged on bottom, hooked a 15" Bass......tossed back for someone else.

    Tips: see above

Report: First time fishing Spring lake. Took my son as weather too nasty for him on lake Sonoma today. Joke on me as I wish I could include the picture of the bass I caught. One of my personal best between 6-7 pounds? as I didn’t bring my scale. White chatterbait with black/blue rage bug trailer. Caught near boat dock from shore. Wind 5-10 mph. Overcast and drizzle. Not a world record but nice to know this lake still holds some serious bass.

  • Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: It was my third time EVER Bass fishing (Don't hate me!). But I have been reading a lot on BassResource.com.
Anyway, There was supposed to be a front later in the day, so I tried a bit of fishing before work (7:30-9).
Fishing from shore, tried a Jig and trailer, Rat Trap, spinnerbait, nothing. And I could see swirls, Bass were feeding. I remembered reading that during the spring bait fish are smaller, so I tried my smallest lure, a #2 PantherMartin with 1.5in trailer. (5.5' Ultralight rod and 8lb test line.) Cast at a swirl and caught a nice 2 pound eater.

On my way back to my car 5 minutes later, I tried a couple more casts, felt a subtle strike and set the hook. 5 minutes later, I hauled in a 27 inch HAWG! I DIDN'T HAVE A SCALE! But best guess based on looking at scores of tourni pics, is 11-13 pounds.

This lake still has monster Bass! (Still has this HAWG in fact, because naturally, I released her. I'll thin the herd of 1-3 pounders and have fish dinner, but anything over that needs to pass its genes on. Especially Trophy fish! Let those trophies lay more eggs!!!)
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Water was way dirty, so it was a bronze #2 spinner. Tiny lure, tiny rod, tiny 8lb test line, and MONSTER Bass!

Literally big enough to eat every other fish I've ever caught in my life.

    Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Friday afternoon and caught 2 on a Senko, 2 on a drop shot and 1 with a popper. Lost another on the drop shot. Launched from the ramp and went to the north. First came within 30 yds. All others came around the island on the inside. Made it as far as the north corner by the dam but only 1 bite in that area. Water appears to be clearing along the shoreline but dirty everywhere else.
    City: Rohnert Park

Tips: Weightless senkos along the shorelines work top waters slowly. Shad color baits worked better tha. The darker colors.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished in a rain storm from my float tube. The only bite I got, I landed and it was 6.2 lbs. Caught him off the island with a weighted senko. Went in after about two hours and my jacket was soaked through.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: What a change from 2 weeks ago. The water is chocolate brown and the fish are nowhere to be found. Fished the afternoon with a variety of baits and could not find a bite.
    City: Rohnert Park

Tips: Wait until the water clears up to head to Spring Lake.

    Water Temp: mid-50's?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Arrived at the lake around 3 pm and fished until sunset. Left the boat ramp and neaded north. Didn't have a bit until around 5:30, but it was a nice bass about 4 lbs. Caught it on a drop shot using a black/blue worm off the end of the island.
Not too many bites right now, but the quality has been really good. A friend and his bro have been there the last couple days and caught several over 4 lbs and one over 6 lbs.
    City: Rohnert Park

Tips: Quality not quantity right now. Things may change as the front moves through. Water temp is still a little cold to kick on the bite.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Took wife and baby out with me for a walk and a little fishing. First 15 cast nothing then line hit hard. Caught a decent large mouth by the island they have. Pulled it in and it was about 5-6lbs. There was a few nibbles on some stink bait but caught the bass on a spinner. Not bad for the begining of the year on a lake that doesnt have a great reputation for fish.

    Water Temp: warm

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: It's a sad story this lake has been over fished and not being supervised on whats being taking out. I see time and time again a group of people taking out too many small fry, putting them back and taking them home. I went fishing there yesterday and I was shocked how many people we walking around, talking, riding their bike, walking their dogs, too loud too many people for bass fishing (I thought I was in the city). I was also surprised to see all the vessel that were on the water (boats, kayaks etc.) it's change so much since I was a kid. The only bass I been catching are under a pound. I found another lake which not too many people know about and a Sonoma County parks lake which is awesome to fish at( and I'm not telling you where it is at). Spring lake is for small fish or or coming up empty. (also lots of algae which they just sprayed)

P.S. That fish in that photo up there is most likely long gone.
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Drop shot rig, roboworms, Trophy bass only way to go. Crank bait early morning or late evenings and to avoid crowds.

    Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went fishing, some algae in the water. Not sure if they sprayed recently, but hopefully they didn't. Fish seemed to be a little more active, but still hiding when they want to. Had I guy in a tube take a picture of a decent one I caught. I guess others are giving it a try even though the fishing is up and down, but mostly down.
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Fish all day long and you might get a nice one.

    Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: It seems this lake is devoid of life since they keep spraying the non existent weeds. I guess lake management doesn't realize how the bass fisherman contribute to there economy. No fish, no bites. You can usually catch little guys, but it appears the Comorants have done away with them, noticed the birds don't seem to be around either. Good Luck!
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Talk to the Rangers about the fishery and let them know how much it has been effected by the spraying. If everyone says something maybe they will take notice. Not to mention they are putting chemicals into the run off creeks of native steel head which are a protected species. I'm just hoping to catch a bass, but I guess that's not going to happen.

    Water Temp: 49

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Decided to take in the nice weather...too bad, nothing. No bites, didn't even graph many fish. The ones I found were on the bottom.

This lake needs to warm up to around 60 and then it should get better.

Nice to get out again. Saw some belly boaters but they didn't seem to be having much luck either.
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Lake is full as full can be, which is good but need to wait until the temp rises.

Report: Just so you know, I'm not hatin on anyone. I have fished here for a long time and know you don't just show up, make a few casts and land 5-10 pounders every day no matter how avid you are. Sounds a little fishy to me. Seems like you guys should be fishing tournaments not Spring Lake.
