  • Water Temp: 58-61

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started at 10am with the water looking stained. A-rig, S-waver, drop shot and jig were my game plan. Slight breeze kept me moving over the flats in 25 feet of water. Followers on the s waver and short strikes. Caught two on a rig (dinks) The jig seemed to be the ticket. Caught a 3 then a 2 and a few more dinks before the bite died. Tied a spoon on and looked for balls of bait. Dropped down on a few and caught one about 1.5. Tied on a lv 500 and caught 1 more. Off the water by 3pm.

Tips: I could not get bit on drop shot and both guys I talk to on the water were catching them on drop shot.

  • Water Temp: 74-76

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Hit Henny with my buddy Bruce for early am top h2o bite with poppers, frog and buzz baits for a few good blow ups. Spinner baits and a few honey holes caught a couple more. Bruce caught the better fish all day and I had the numbers. Switched to jigs and had lots of hits, but they were tough to catch. Bruce got more in the boat than me, including the bass of the day 5.11lb. It was overcast for the first 3 1/2 hours on the lake with a slight breeze. Made for good fishing.

  • Water Temp: 74/78

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Very lucky to have overcast morning that lasted until around 9:15am with a slight breeze though out the day. Dropped the tub in at day break and stared getting hits right away. About an hour in found some lay downs around rock when the bigger bites started. there is a great weed line next to deeper water that the bass were all over. Caught around 30 or 35 bass by 11:00am with most being in the 1.5 to 3lb range and a few up to a little over 5lbs.

Tips: I was reaction fishing all morning. Accurate casts is what paid off all morning. I have been following a pattern on henny this week. I did not fish the same portions of the lake today, just the same structure around the lake.

Saturday, October 15th, 2016

  • Water Temp: 64.3 - 66.7

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched at 7:30am dropped trolling motor in light rain. S/Waver over dying grass in shallow flats caught a few keepers. Fishing was great, catching was slow for the next couple hours. Mid depth crank, vibrate jig pick up two more. Around 11am went to deeper off shore flat and spooned around bait balls for a couple more, including the best fish of the day just over 2lbs.

Tips: The lake looked great, we just need over night temps to drop a little and full on fall bite will kick in. I think that is why there were only smaller fish being caught.

  • Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: What a nice time to be fishing. Started before sunrise with cloud cover went straight to top water. With one explosion after another life was great. Carbon copy two pounders were showing there colors for the most part. Switched things up and tied on deeper diving crank and went to the flats in deeper water and caught some nicer bass but not by much. Then switched to a chatter bait and went a little shallower and caught a few more. Here is were the fun was though. There were fish busting all over, chasing shad. Tied on a kastmaster on and had a great time Little butter ball bass up to pound or more, so I retied on a ultra lite rig and went to town on them for a half hour or so.

    Water Temp: 57-61

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started at 7am with 6 inch swim bait and caught one 2 lb bass. Through spinners and cranks in shad colors and crawfish, and hooked up a few more bass and even caught a trout on a crank bait.
    City: Napa

Tips: I was unable to put a pattern together. Even though the lake has not been stocked with trout for a few years, The trout I caught was about 9 inches long. This tells me there are a few babies being born in the lake. A few months from know a nice swim bait will produce. Happy fishin

    Water Temp: 60's

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: This lake can be tough, Best bet with current conditions is to run to north side work the inlets and the bank on NE side back with watermelon red sekos or tx hogs in wat/red or blue/black on overcast. white on white blades. the gizard shad is in this lake so i use blue back silver speed traps. try a dad like the river to sea yabby the little one and you will get um.
    City: napa/vacaville

Tips: work from the big inlet in the north back and find em in about 5 to 10.its all sand and run off with perfect bedding areas.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished both the north and southeast sides of the lake. Less than ideal conditions with the wind and the potential for showers. Stuck one LM off a fallen tree and that was it for about four hours of fishing. Spotted lots of fry so it looks like the spawn is over with.
    City: Napa

Tips: Hennessy is usually a tough lake in the best of conditions, so wait until summer like weather arrives.

    Water Temp: 56 plus

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Toaday I was on a walk around the lake on the conn valley side and noticed the bass are starting to bed up. This has been happening for a few weeks now. There were a few pairs stuck together like glue and very aggresive towards intrusive baits laying in there beds. So this is more of an update of the way fish behave. I did stick a few bass.

    Water Temp: 56

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Decided to try out my new 10HP out on Hennessy. I love this lake, just can't catch any fish out of it. Like my luck before, NOTHING!!! I thought going between storms might bring out a few momma's.

The lake is still very low and really doesn't have the structure that it needs but when its full this should end up being a great fishery.

Most fish were very deep. I threw a basstrix in rainbow trout and finally found a bait that these fish were interested in. They followed the bait up to the boat, sometimes 3 at a time but never grabbed it. SO FRUSTRATING. I stopped it, twitched it, burned it...NOTHING. Again this lake skunked me. Should have just kept driving onto Berryessa like my brain told me to do, again a great day to be on any lake!!!

Tips: Your asking the wrong guy...I'm the one who needs tips.
