DALLAS (July 26, 2004) — Listen to “FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” online or on the air this Sunday as host Keith Lebowitz interviews two qualifiers of the 2004 Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship presented by Castrol, which is scheduled to take place Aug. 11-14 on Alabama’s Logan Martin Lake. The top 48 pros from the FLW Tour will compete at the championship for the largest guaranteed cash award in tournament fishing. Talking about the upcoming event will be Team Kellogg’s angler Clark Wendlandt of Cedar Park, Texas, who has qualified for all eight previous championships, and Team Castrol pro Carl Svebek of Siloam Springs, Ark., who is making his second championship appearance this year. Lebowitz will also get a baseball update from Texas Rangers first baseman Mark Teixeira.
Wendlandt, who has amassed nearly $1 million in FLW Outdoors winnings, is seeded fourth heading into the championship and will face rookie Dennis Magoto of Waynesville, Ohio, who ranked 45th in the standings. Wendlandt will talk about how he plans on winning his first championship title.
Svebek, who is seeded 29th heading into the championship, will go head-to-head with Team Skippy pro Jason Kilpatrick of Satsuma, Ala., the 20th seed. The Castrol pro will talk about how he plans to practice in the weeks prior to the event to try to outfish Kilpatrick, a local favorite, and about how it would feel to take home the $500,000 top prize.
Teixeira, who is a switch hitter with a .274 batting average, will talk about his team’s success so far this season. Teixeira is also an avid outdoorsman and will share some of his favorite hunting stories.
“FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” is broadcast throughout Texas and parts of Oklahoma every Sunday from 10-11 a.m. Central time and is rebroadcast every Monday from midnight-1 a.m. on 105.3 FM in Dallas.
