Future Pro Tour to complete season with a Folsom Lake finale!

Folsom lake, without question one of the most beautiful and fertile lakes in northern California, will be the site of the final event of the Future Pro Tour ‘s 2004 season! Angler’s that fish Folsom Lake in the early fall can expect to find lots of fish holding to the numerous rock piles now prevalent with the low-water conditions that now exist on this gold county impoundment.

Going into the fall transition, the water temps are starting to fall and according to the department of water resources, the water levels on the lake have begun to stabilize. Low water conditions can be a beautiful thing on Folsom Lake as the fish have no choice but to congregate on the many rock piles a large granite boulders that can be clearly seen at this time. 5mph markers normally located much further up the two rivers that feed the lake have been moved closer to the main body of the lake, and will cause many of these amateur anglers to re-think their game day strategies.

Art Harrington and John Kalafatich, team partners that are both local to the area, have a positive attitude regarding the challenging conditions they are up against. “That we won’t be able to run up and down the lake is really of no concern to us”, John and Art said confidently. It simply means that we have to find an area, determine a pattern and stay with it”!

I had the opportunity to speak with several of the local bass pros on Folsom Lake, in particular, Ralph Harkins, Galaxie Marine/Triton Boats pro-staff member and newly crowned team Angler of the Year in W.O.N. Bass’s California Foothills division. He quickly assessed the fishing conditions on Folsom and stated: “Fishing is real good right now and will only get better as the fall season progresses”. There are some huge topwater fish to be caught up the rivers and on the main body and if I were fishing this event, I’d be concentrating on these big fish and swinging for the fences”!

And while many teams will be doing just that, many others will simply be fishing for a good limit and the opportunity to secure a spot in the upcoming Future Pro Tour Classic presented by People’s Folsom Lake/Stockton Chrysler-Jeep-Nissan-Hyundai-Isuzu dealerships. This year’s Future Pro Tour Classic winners will receive as first prize, a new vehicle of their choice (up to $15,000) from People’s Folsom Lake/People’s Stockton – Chrysler-Jeep-Nissan-Hyundai-Isuzu!

On Friday, Oct 15th, the evening prior to the event, we will host FREE seminars during the optional pre-registration period by the area’s top bass professionals on how to fish this spotted and smallmouth bass factory in the early fall. These seminars will be held at the People’s Folsom Lake/Nissan dealership in the Folsom Automall (12530 Automall Circle - 800-692-5337) from 5:00-7:00pm. In celebration of the Future Pro Tour’s final event we will have a free drawing for a new Bottom Line Depth finder and new Lamaglas Flippin stick for all that attend the seminar. Everyone is invited to attend this seminar – even if you don’t fish the event.

You can late register for the event – the day of the event (Oct 16th) at the ramp at Brown’s Ravine (Hobie Cove) ramp from 430-630am.

See you all at Folsom !!!!
