FOGGY WEATHER FORCES CANCELLATION OF CITGO BASSMASTER CENTRAL OPEN’S SECOND ROUND

MORGAN CITY, La. – A dense, unmoving fog bank over the Atchafalya Basin forced tournament officials to cancel the second day of the CITGO Bassmaster Northern Open presented by Busch Beer.

Anglers poised to launch at 7 a.m. waited nearly four hours for the fog to burn off and, although it cleared in the immediate area surrounding the Belle River Public Launch, the fog remained heavy over the majority of the fishery. At 10:40, BASS tournament manager Chuck Harbin announced that the second day would be cancelled.

“The foggy conditions presented unsafe boating conditions for our anglers,” Harbin said. “Safety is our utmost concern. We will continue the tournament on Saturday, weather permitting. The full field will fish and it will be the final day of the tournament.”

Saturday’s weigh-in will begin at 3:15 p.m. and the launch will be at 7 a.m. at Belle River Public Launch. Both are free to the public.
