CELEBRITIES SHARE THE OUTDOORS EXPERIENCE ON THE NEW AMERICAN SPORTSMAN

BRISTOL, Conn. – For years, The American Sportsman showcased some of America’s best-known celebrities as they enjoyed their favorite outdoors sports. The tradition will continue November 28 with the season premier of the ESPN Outdoors series, The New American Sportsman. The program will air each Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

New series host Tom Ackerman will be guiding his celebrity guests to some of North America’s most sought-after hunting and fishing destinations. The action will debut on November 28 with Craig T. Nelson and a fly fishing trip to Idaho’s Snake River, where the popular actor and Ackerman tackle trout on one of the West’s premier streams.

A week later, Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL standout Hershel Walker goes brown bear hunting on the Alaskan tundra while Ackerman casts for artic grayling, char and trout on Alaska’s glacial rivers. The action and scenery are breathtaking as these two avid outdoorsmen take on America’s last frontier.

On December 9, legendary college basketball coach Bob Knight joins Ackerman as they chase big striped bass off the rocky coast of Maine. It’s the host’s backyard, and he shows his stuff for the cameras and the three-time NCAA championship coach.

Tom Ackerman is a life-long outdoorsman and certified hunting and fishing guide. His passion for the outdoors has taken him and his clients all over the country and around the world in search of adventure. This season, he’ll take millions of viewers along for the experience on The New American Sportsman.
