BASS Announces Gary Klein is Classic Bound

CELEBRATION, Fla. - After careful consideration and a thorough review of the rules pertaining to the Elite 50 point distribution, BASS has determined that angler Gary Klein has qualified for both the 2005 and 2006 CITGO Bassmaster Classic.

BASS decided to rule in the interest of Klein after a degree of ambiguity was created by the manner in which points were awarded on the third and fourth days of the Lake Wissota Bassmaster Elite 50 in Chippewa Falls, Wis., on June 15-18.

Beginning in 2006, the Elite 50 series will be replaced with the Majors, three stand-alone events.

BASS will use this opportunity to more clearly define and determine the distribution of points in future tournaments.

BASS is the world's largest fishing organization, sanctioning more than 20,000 tournaments worldwide through its Federation. The CITGO Bassmaster Tournament Trail, which includes the Bassmaster Elite 50 series, is the oldest and most prestigious pro bass fishing tournament circuit and continues to set the standard for credibility, professionalism and sportsmanship as it has since 1968.
