WOMEN’S BASSMASTER TOUR PREVIEW EVENT EXCEEDS GOAL OF 100 BOATS

BASS Will Still Accept Entries Until Oct. 12

CELEBRATION, Fla. – BASS is pleased to announce that the 100-boater field of the Women’s Bassmaster Tour preview event, scheduled Oct. 20-22 at Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Texas, is full.

Melinda Mize, of Ben Lomond, Ark., daughter of BASS pros Jimmy and Lucy Mize, was the 100th registered boater. "I am so ready to fish at Rayburn,” she said. Mize will be joined by her mother Lucy, who registered along with dozens of other women earlier in the month.

“I think this Tour is going to be for women of all backgrounds - even if they are just beginning,” Lucy Mize said this month when she attended the BUSCH Shotout on Table Rock Lake in Missouri with her husband. “Anybody that loves to fish should come out and try it because it is gonna be a big deal for everyone.”

Less than three weeks ago, BASS reported a nearly full field for the preview event. Tour director Bruce Mathis said more women, many eager to register before the field closed, called or went to www.bassmaster.com to enroll.  Because the women’s preview event has been met with an unequivocal fervor, BASS will continue to register boaters and non-boaters until Wednesday, Oct. 12, based on an even field.

“We don’t want to turn away any woman who wants to be a part of this historic event, one that now appears to be bigger than anyone imagined,” Mathis said. “We still encourage any interested woman to sign up for this marquee event, boaters and non-boaters alike.”

With the registration deadline less than three weeks away, women anglers who are interested must act fast to fish the preview event. Interested parties can visit www.bassmaster.com or call 407-566-BASS.

Once the preview event closes, women will have the chance to sign up for the five-event Women’s Bassmaster Tour. The 2006 schedule is:
