CLEWISTON, Fla. (Jan. 12, 2006) - The Wal-Mart located at 1005 W. Sugarland Highway in Clewiston will be hosting Wal-Mart FLW Tour pros George Cochran, Wes Thomas and John Sappington for a meet and greet session with fishing fans from across the region Monday, Jan. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m.
The world-class anglers representing Wal-Mart, Fujifilm and Snickers, respectively, will be signing autographs, posing for photos and offering fishing tips to store visitors during the two-hour event, which precedes the FLW Tour season opener presented by Snickers on Lake Okeechobee in Clewiston Jan. 18-21.
Cochran is a tournament veteran from Hot Springs, Ark., who is well-known as a master of shallow-water angling. He has earned three championship titles, including a $500,000 victory at the 2005 Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship in Hot Springs, Ark., and amassed more than $1.7 million in career winnings.
Thomas is a veteran FLW Outdoors angler from Hanover, Ind., who has earned seven top-10 finishes since 1996. He competes on both the FLW Tour and the Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series.
Sappington, a former FLW Tour Champion who has earned four FLW Tour top-10s since 1998, embarked on a remarkable comeback in 2005 after his career was nearly ended by severe neck and back injuries sustained in a frightening accident on the Atchafalaya Basin in February 2004. He has since recovered and is looking to notch another tour win.
