Future Pro Tour heads back to Don Pedro

ROCKLIN, Ca - The Future Pro Tour heads back for the second time this year to Don Pedro reservoir, one of the most fertile and popular lakes in the mother lode region. And, having produced good limits of quality large and smallmouth bass for those participating in last Saturday's 4th annual Ranger owners tournament hosted by C&C Marine owners Chet and Carol Hammonds, it is a good bet that the Future Pro Tour's central valley anglers are ready to “double down” and take advantage of a bite that many believe will continue to remain strong.

“We used the Ranger owners tournament as a pre-fish for this event”, said Stan Prickett and Bill Santini, two central region anglers currently 7th in the race for the prestigious Angler of the Year title – a title that carries with it a cash bonus of up to $2,000, and several limited product sponsorships. “We finished just out of the money in the event and won two nice Lamiglas rods, but we hope to parlay what we learned into a victory this coming Saturday”, they added anxiously.

But that they have their work cut out for them is putting it mildly, as teams such as current AOY leaders Doug Goodman and Don Goorman, and top contenders such as Ryan Cook and Eric Souza, and C&C marine staff member Paul Cox and Joe Hardrick, fully intend to make life miserable for all competitors when weigh-in time comes at the end of the day. Worms , jigs, and some early topwater action will be the key to doing well”, noted Ranger pro Jeff Huth, manager of the extremely popular Valley Rod and Gun tackle store in Clovis. The swimbait bite for big fish is always there..but always keep in mind that it can be a “hero” or “zero” proposition. Take your time, work the areas you have confidence in thoroughly, and play to your strengths”, he admonished.

And though the stage is set for the FPT's 3rd event of the year in the central region, it's still not too late for you to get in on all the action and fun as we will be taking late registrations the morning of the event from 4-7am at the Fleming Meadows launch ramp.

And, for those of you that want to try out the Future Pro Tour, a $5 per angler limited membership fee will be available so that you can determine if the Tour meets your tournament needs. Blast-off will be at safelight.

See you all at Pedro!
