Powell Rods adds 11 New Powell Max Models for 2008

Las Vegas, Nev. – Continuing in the tradition of excellence started in 1910, Powell Rods introduced 11 new Powell Max bass rods the fishing industry at ICAST50 in Las Vegas, Nev. July 11 – 13. The new additions to the Powell Max lineup include six spinning rods and five casting models.

Headlining the spinning rod additions are a pair of 7’3” models designed to give anglers longer distance casts, better line movement on the hookset, and more control of the fish during the fight.

The 733 MEF is built on a medium action extra-fast taper Maxumfiber blank and was designed for use with shaky heads, darter heads, whacky rigs and for shaking worms.

The 734 MHEF also features the Maxumfiber extra-fast taper with a medium heavy action that is suited for wacky rigged Senkos, Texas Rigged worms, jigs and light Carolina rigs.

Highlighting the casting models are a new telescopic Flipping Stick, a new Carolina rig rod and a new glass cranking stick. The 765 MH-XT is Powell’s first telescopic model. It features the same quality components and action as the original 765 Flipping Stick; but gives the angler the added convenience of a telescoping handle for easier storage.

For anglers who love to fish a Carolina rig, the 763 ML-FG is constructed to cast the rig long distances with a soft tip action that allows bass to take the bait deeper for a more positive hookset. Another new feature of the 763 ML-FG is that it features a fore grip to allow anglers to hold the rod in front of the reel and feel the line for increased strike awareness. It’s also a super topwater rod as well.

Crankbait slingers should love the 754 CB Glass. This is a 7’5” 4 power glass crankbait rod that is designed to throw the biggest, hardest pulling deep diving crankbaits all day with efficiency. Constructed of a super light S Glass material, the 754 CB Glass is five inches longer than most cranking rods giving the angler enhanced casting distance, less fatigue when cranking deep diving plugs, and more control of hard fighting bass.

Big Bait anglers should also take note of the new extra-heavy 800 SBREH swimbait rod. Designed to handle the rigors of casting the biggest swimbaits, the 800 SBREH is equipped to handle the biggest baits with a parabolic action to hook and control even the meanest fish.

“We are very proud of our new additions to the Powell Max Bass Rods family,” said Keith Bryan, President of Powell Rods. “These rods were developed with input from our pro staff, and our customers, and are designed to meet the needs of anglers everywhere.”
