BASS Announces Full Field for 2008 Bassmaster Elite Series

BASS announced today the complete roster for the 2008 Bassmaster Elite Series as the final 10 competitors were determined via the outcome of the Bassmaster Elite Series WildCard event. The 10 anglers who made the Elites through the WildCard will join the previously announced 100 competitors who qualified via the Bassmaster Elite Series or the Bassmaster Open circuits.

The field of 110 anglers will vie for more than $7.5 million in cash through 11 Elite Series events. The Elite anglers hold among them 17 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year titles and almost 200 BASS victories.

The Elite Series will kick off in less than three months with the March 6-9 Sunshine Showdown on Florida’s Harris Chain of Lakes. In 2008, Elite anglers will fish all BASS events out of their own branded boats.

“We continue to receive positive feedback about the direction of the Elite Series,” said Jamie Wilkinson, BASS senior director of events. “We are excited to provide the anglers with the ultimate brand-building opportunity in professional fishing.”

Once again, the 11 Elite Series events will determine one of the most prestigious awards in bass fishing, the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year, which will award a total prize purse worth $1 million in 2008, including the $250,000 grand prize.
