Berkley Big Bass Challenge comes to the Delta

BETHEL ISLAND, Ca. - The Berkley BIG BASS Challenge is coming to the California delta this fall, and will be an event that is sure to help us close out what has been a great year of fishing.

That’s right! This fall, October 18-19th, at Russo's Marina, you will have the chance to see if you can be one of the hundreds of anglers that will be lucky enough to catch a BIG delta bass and grab one of the five BIG fish CASH awards given away every hour - for six straight hours! This event will be a two-day affair, so if you don’t get a big fish on day one, you still have another day to get a big fish and your share of cash!

The Berkley Big Bass event, started three years ago in Texas and has become hugely popular, as it is hosted on Lake Fork, a lake well-known for its big bass. But western anglers know that it doesn’t get any better for “big bass” fishing than the California delta so you can expect this event to be an ol’ fashion shootout, and a whole lot of fun!

In addition to two days of hourly payouts for the biggest bass, the overall biggest bass for the two days will win a CASH award of $10,000! The 2nd overall biggest bass wins $2,500, and the 3rd overall biggest bass wins $1,000!

This is not a team or Pro-am event, as every participant will enter as an individual. The challenge of this event will be that only Berkley baits will be allowed to be used during the two days of competition! And Berkley has every type and style of bait you will need to up your chances of success for this classic fall event.

The month of October will be a great time to fish the California delta, as the air and cooler water temperatures will make the fish more active producing a WIDE-OPEN bite. A wide variety of Berkley products such as Powerworms, jigs, small spinners, crankbaits, topwater poppers, dropshot worms, even a topwater frogbait are available for you to use – just to name a few. So no matter what style of fishing is your strong suit, this event will give everyone from beginners to experienced bassers a great chance to earn some hourly cash while having a great time.

And speaking of fun…hold onto your empty Powerbait or Gulp bags to enter a huge raffle that will be held at Russo’s Marina on the final day! REVO reels, Fenwick Rods, baits, line, Berkley TEC tools, NAVIONICS mapping chips, Humminbird Fish Finder, and much more will given away, with one lucky winner receiving the GRAND raffle prize of a day on the water with 2007 B.A.S.S Angler of the Year Skeet Reese!

The big ‘Berkley Experience’ Trailer (all 74 feet of it) trailer will be parked Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Russo’s Marina where during the event you can enjoy music, a great BBQ, and meet Berkley national pro-staff members such as Greg Gutteriez, Jared Linter, and others! The ‘Berkley Experience’ Trailer features the exclusive Interactive Experience to help improve your fishing, a knot tying competition, Wii video games, and product demonstrations. Special promotions on Berkley products will also be available.

Entry fee for this fall classic event is only $150 per person, which covers you for both days of competition, and you will be able to launch from wherever you want – but you must check in at Russo’s Marina before you take off to fish.

So get ready for some BIG fun!...as the first annual Berkley BIG BASS Challenge comes to the California Delta!
