3rd Annual Take-A-Kid Fishing/Safety Fair comes to Northern California

SACRAMENTO, Ca. - The 3rd annual Take-A-Kid Fishing event returns to northern California Saturday, August 29th, at Folsom Lake, bringing with it added fun for kids that will participate – a GIGANTIC kid’s fun and safety fair! That’s right…in addition to the great fun to be had fishing with mom or dad, the free premium rod, reel, and tackle boxes that will be given out to the first 100 kids that sign up, the trophies awarded to the biggest fish of each species, and the free lunch and participation awards given to all kids that come out, the Future Pro Tour will also host a kid’s fun and safety fair that should not be missed! Several community and corporate entities have pledged their support for this event to help make it both a fun and memorable day for kids as they wind down their summer vacations. Some of the activities for this fun day at the lake include: Take-A-Kid Fishing Participation in the fishing portion of this event is only $35 per child and includes a premium rod,reel and tackle box (first 100 signups), FREE lunch, onsite help with bait rigging (for those of you that are squimish), free bait/terminal tackle, a participation award, plus access to the Fun and Safety Fair. Fishing (both bank and boat divisions) starts at 6:30am and ends at 12:30pm, and features two age divisions: 3-10 years old and 11-15 years old. Trophies for the single biggest fish of each species in each division will be awarded. A FREE “How To” fishing clinic will be hosted on Aug 28th the evening before the event, from 4-7pm at Fishermen’s Warehouse in Sacramento, where kids can get information from top pro anglers on what baits and rigs to use on Folsom Lake to help them catch all species of fish. You can also at that time, sign your child up for Saturday’s event so they can be sure to receive their FREE rod/reel/tackle box courtesy of Shakespeare, Pure Fishing, and Plano (a $75.00 value). But remember ….only the first 100 kids that sign-up will receive this FREE gift! Fun and Safety Fair - (open to ALL KIDS even if they don’t participate in the fishing portion) South Placer Fire District in conjunction with Fireman’s Fund Insurance will have their 20 foot Adventure Safety Trailer (ASK) onsite to help educate kids about all types of safety subjects such as bicycle safety, water safety, and internet safety just to mention a few. As they educate the kids on safety, they will be handing out tons of free prizes and literature on safety. In addition, South Placer Fire District will have on display, some of the working fire engines in their fleet, accompanied by a 60 foot “jump house” – shaped like a fire engine for kids to play in! National Center for Child Safety and Awareness will have their trailer on site to provide FREE Child Safety kits that include biometric finger printing, digital photographs, and a DNA kit with Child Safety Journal. This is an expensive but invaluable tool in helping keep your child safe so you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity provided to you FREE of charge. In addition, the following Placer County agencies will also be on hand to help emphasize child safety: - Placer County Sheriff dept’s – Two Cal-Star rescue helicopters - Placer County Sheriff dept’s - K9 team - Placer County Sheriff dept’s - Swat Team - CHP Rollover display vehicle Radio Disney and Department of Boating and Waterway Safety will be onsite to provide safety demos to parents and kids on safe boating. Radio Disney will broadcast from the event and have free gifts/prizes at their booth for the kids. PLUS there will be a HUGE jump house in the shape of a life jacket for kids to play in! Several other sponsor displays and “Fun Zones” will be available for kids to participate in during this Fun/Safety fair, all of which will be free of charge to all kids in attendance.
