Future Pro Tour closes 2009 season at Lake Berryessa

NAPA, Ca. – Just as vintners begin to prepare in earnest for the Napa Valley’s fall harvest, looking forward to what will be produced from a year’s worth of toil and sweat, you can be sure that Future Pro Tour anglers participating in the season ending event to be held Oct 10th at Lake Berryessa, will also hope to find themselves - after the last cast is made, in a position to enjoy the vintage of their own year’s worth of hard work. With that vintage being, a coveted invitation to the 2009 Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour Classic championship.

The FPT’s season opener held on this same lake in early march, sported cooler temperatures, and anglers found scores of fish migrating into the mouths of creeks preparing for the spring spawn - making them an easy target. Similarly, in this season's closing fall event Future Pro Tour anglers will also find lots of fish…but this time they will be chasing huge balls of bait and feeding up for the cold winter months ahead.

But while the battle for 45 coveted berths into the prestigious Future Pro Tour Classic championship rages on in this event appropriately dubbed “The Grapes of Wrath”, some anglers, such as Dobyns Rods promotional staff members James Markham and Paul Parks, are looking to “trample out some vengeance” on current Angler of the Year and NAVIONICS Cup points leaders Scott Stevens and Vince Bernal, who they have been trailing behind all year long.

“We know we are in second place in the AOY points standings and have a BIG hill to climb”, James noted is a serious tone. The odds are against us and a lot of things have to fall into place for us to pull it off…but this is competitive angling and we have come to learn that nothing is ever settled until the last bag of fish are weighed”.

And Paul and James have a lot to look forward to if they are successful in wresting away the Angler of the Year and NAVIONICS cup titles, as the awards for these accomplishments are impressive indeed. Limited sponsorships, paid entries into the 2010 FPT season, wrapped boats and fuel cards are just a few of the honors bestowed on the winners of these coveted titles, not to mention the fact that the team will also be considered the best amateur bass fishing team in the western United States.

The host hotel and marina for this final event will once again be at the Pleasure Cove Marina Resort located just seven miles past the Markey cove exit off Hwy 128, where cabin accommodations and discounted launch rates are available for FPT anglers only. The Friday before the event, we will host our traditional, but optional, pre-registration seminar featuring some of the best pro anglers who fish Lake Berryessa to help you figure out a game plan for the next day’s competition.

Late registration for this event will be taken the morning of the event at the Pleasure Cove Marina store from 4-7am, with limited memberships of just $5 dollars available to those that will only be fishing this event or just want to try out the Future Pro Tour.

So what are you waiting for?....start preparing your rods and get ready to come to the Napa Valley and help us close out what has been a great 2009 Future Pro Tour season!

See you all there!
