FPT Oroville event - this weekend!

Oroville Ca. – The fall will soon be upon us, and with it the transition that many anglers have been looking for. That transition being the turnover of the lake, the cooling off of water temperatures, and a significant rise in the feeding activities critical and directly proportional to the success of those trying to catch limits of quality bass.

This Saturday, September 18th, on Lake Oroville, the sixth stop in the Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour’s 2010 season will get underway, with an event which to many anglers working toward the goal of securing a berth into the Future Pro Tour Classic, will be critical and directly proportional to whether or not they even make it to the “big show “.

And their challenge to do well in this event could not be greater, in that the bite of late on Lake Oroville has been nothing short of atrocious. Two weeks ago the FPT film crew spent an entire day on the Lake, attempting to film a pre-fishing show. And though the “show went on” the results of that effort yielded only 3 tiny fish, punctuated by the fact that they received only four bites – all day. But it remains to be seen if these types of conditions will prevail for the upcoming weekend and succeed in making it a grind for FPT competitors.

Race for the NAVIONICS Cup

No specific team has a “lock” on the 2010 NAVIONICS Cup, and the race for this coveted title is indeed a tight one with Burkett/Smith of the northern region trying to hold off contenders Gee/Laguna, and Flores/Marshall trying to close the door on the team of Huckaby/Broom in the central region. Along with the accolades bestowed on teams that win the 2010 NAVIONICS Cup title, comes a myriad of bonuses awarded to each team which includes paid entry fees into the 2011 season, being placed on the NAVIONICS promotional team, a boat wrap with custom team jerseys, and a $500 fuel card to help off-set expenses.

Weather for this weekend is predicted to be mild with temps in the low 80’s, and very light winds which will make for a comfortable day on the water for all competitors.
