SACRAMENTO, Ca. - Few would argue that today’s youth need to be afforded every opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that will add to their library of life experiences. And while fishing is a fantastic sport, and one that we obviously endorse, it is also critically important that we do all we can to expose our youth to as much of this variety as possible.
In 2006, the Future Pro Tour launched an exclusive youth division designed expressly for its many participants 16 years old and under, who fish with a parent or guardian. For the uninitiated, this division, dubbed the “Future Future Pro division”, serves to encourage our younger anglers to persevere through the many challenges of competition, and awards the highest finishing youth/parent team at each event with a special trophy and small cash award.
In 2007, one of the FPT’s premier sponsors, SKIP’S Music of Sacramento, Elk Grove, and Modesto, joined in on our efforts towards youth encouragement, and created the SKIP’s Music “Rock and Rods” program that gives all youth that fish in FPT events, the opportunity to expand their horizons and become introduced to the wonderful world of music.
For every event a youth has fished in during the 2010 season, they receive one ticket to a drawing for a musical instrument package – of their choice, valued at $1,500 from SKIP’s Music. So, the more FPT events a youth participates in, the more chances they have at winning this awesome musical package.
For the 2010 season, Trucksmart of Rocklin, and the Hook, Line, and Sinker, of Oakley augmented the prize bounty offered to the youth division, giving our group of “young guns” a chance to win a brand new 50cc Mini ATV Quad motor bike complete with elbow/knee pads and helmet and valued at $500!
The random drawing amongst youth participants for these two great packages will be held on Friday November 5th during the Future Pro Tour’s Classic celebration dinner at the Lexington Plaza Waterfront Hotel by one of the FPT’s competition committee members.
