Mercury sweeps Trailer Boats Reader’s Choice Awards

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (December 13, 2010) – Mercury Marine was named favorite outboard manufacturer and favorite sterndrive manufacturer by Trailer Boats magazine readers in the first-ever Readers Choice Awards this November.

“We take pride in building the most enjoyable and reliable engines on the market,” said Kevin Grodzki, President of Mercury Sales, Marketing and Commercial Operations. “This award is extra special because it comes from the boating enthusiasts we proudly serve.”

According to Trailer Boats editors, MerCruiser easily won the sterndrive category.

“MerCruiser ran away with the category by an overwhelming number of votes, making it very clear that Trailer Boats readers favor the black drives,” the editors wrote in the November/December issue.

MerCruiser’s impressive lineup of more than 20 sterndrives includes the popular Alpha One and Bravo series. The offering of optional features like Axius control system and best-in-class SeaCore corrosion protection further sets the MerCruiser brand apart from the competition.

Trailer Boats readers also picked Mercury as their favorite outboard manufacturer.

“This iconic U.S.-built outboard has been powering boats since 1947, and there are few boaters who haven’t been on a Merc,” the editors wrote.

The Mercury outboard lineup ranges from 2.5 hp to 300 hp and includes the Verado family – the quietest, smoothest ride ever produced by an outboard – and the OptiMax lineup – the most popular engine on the BASS tournament trail.

Powerboat Magazine readers also named MerCruiser favorite sterndrive manufacturer in the magazine’s inaugural Readers Choice Awards earlier this summer.
