Door stands wide open for another “Dynamic Duo” to emerge

SACRAMENTO, Ca. - As graduating valedictorian’s Vince Bernal and Scott Stevens are moved on to the next level and stiffer competition, one cannot help but wonder which team amongst the Future Pro Tour’s legion of great teams will rise up in 2011, and dare to showcase their own unique style of consistency as they face the wide-range of challenging venues the tour will offer this season.

Reigning Thunder Valley Outdoors/FPT champions Todd Ondracek and Michael Baggett rightly deserve all accolades due for their dominating performance in the 2010 FPT Championship, but both realize that one victory – even one as high-profile as their prestigious FPT Championship crown, does not necessarily constitute a “legacy” nor place the moniker of “legendary” next to their name.

“Our only goal for this year is consistency, and we are going to prepare ourselves like never before to ensure we have done our best come game day”, noted these dynamic northern region competitors. An important factor for us will be the effective use or our electronics, because we know that one of the keys to Scott and Vince’s dominating performances over the past two years, was that they effectively employed the Navionics mapping technology to gain the edge on tough venues, and that – in conjunction with the use of our Humminbird Side Imaging units, is exactly what we will employ to stay in top contention.”

But teams such as Travis Huckaby and Benny Broom, the central region’s newly crowned NAVIONICS Cup champions, who always fish with unwavering resolve, aren’t trying to hear anybody’s dissertation regarding strategies for the upcoming Future Pro Tour season, as they too are preparing in earnest to prove to themselves and fellow competitors, that the command performance they posted in 2010 was not just a fluke.

“One thing we can agree on in regards to ensuring we have a successful 2011 FPT season, is that having the NAVIONICS mapping technology as part of our arsenal will be without a doubt, one of our most important keys to success. We will use this tool in all of its capacities, to help us reach our goal of winning the 2011 Central Region Angler of the Year title.”

And looming on the horizon for all FPT anglers is a challenging season of exciting and diverse venues, beginning with the FPT season openers on March 12th at Lake McClure (central region), and March 26th at beautiful Lake Berryessa (northern region). Both of these kick-off events will host a large field of competitors, all looking to strike “first blood” and put themselves in position to be part of the FPT’s year-end marquee event – the FPT Classic championship, which will again be a unique split-venue event, held on two different and distinct bodies of water, one of which will be the world-famous California delta.

For those of you who place a high premium on learning, both of these opening events – as well as ALL events the FPT host’s throughout the 2011 season, will feature informative seminars on the evenings prior to each event, featuring some of the best top bass professionals in the western United States.

Professional anglers such as Don Payne, Richard Dobyns, Ish Monroe, Cody Meyer, Gary Dobyns, Jeff Huth, Bobby Barrack, Dee Thomas, Andy Cuccia, and Jimmy Reese to name a few, will be at these seminars to help you select the best baits to catch fish on that particular body of water, and give you tips on how to fish effectively in team competition.

Our first pre-event seminars (which are always optional to attend) will be held on Friday, March 11th from 4-6pm at C&C Marine in Modesto, and our pre-event seminar for the Lake Berryessa season opener will be held on Friday March 25th from 4-7pm at Pleasure Cove Marina/Resort. The seminar at Lake Berryessa will feature no less than FIVE top western pros who will provide for those that need it, specific information on the variety of techniques that can be employed to find early springtime bass on Lake Berryessa.

A place to compete in a challenging environment, build on your bass fishing skills, meet a ton of great people, while having a ton of fun throughout the process, is what the Future Pro Tour is all about, so make sure that you clear your schedules and join us for these great season openers that are just around the corner!
